CUEB’s financial discipline, established in 1978, currently has undergraduate programs covering five majors or areas of study, which are Finance, Finance (International Finance), Financial Engineering, Insurance (Actuarial Studies) and Investment, and it also has postgraduate and doctorate programs in finance. With its financial discipline being one of the key disciplines in Beijing, CUEB’s finance major is recognized as a Beijing Brand Major and Distinctive Major, and its School of Finance is accredited as a Beijing Financial Professional Training Base.
The School of Finance has 46 faculty members, including 4 doctoral supervisors, 11 professors and 15 associate professors, with near 80% of full-time teaching staff holding doctorate degrees. The School also boasts experts receiving special allowance from the State Council and teachers with honorary titles such as Famous Teacher of Beijing, Beijing Outstanding Young and Middle-aged Teacher, CUEB Famous Teacher, Academic Research Model and Outstanding Lecturer. Exchange and practice have always been high on the School’s agenda. It has hired domestic and overseas established scholars as well as senior managers with domestic financial institutions as part-time professors, and there have been regular student exchanges and academic dialogues with overseas universities.
Because of scientific education goals, superior education quality and the job market’s great demand of financial professionals, the School of Finance has been playing a leading role in CUEB in terms of admission threshold and employment rate, which has been above 95%. Up to date, the School has graduated over 6,000 undergraduates and postgraduates, who are employed in Beijing and over 20 provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions), most of whom are backbones of the financial industry and many are in important managerial positions.
