Zhang has also taught students how to sing Beijing Opera, and to experience the beauty of the quintessence of Chinese culture and traditional culture in class, which is quite popular among students.

In recent years, the School of Law has emphasized the combination of liberal arts education and professional education in the process of cultivating outstanding legal talents. In 2019, given the support from the School of the Law, Zhang Peng took the video of Approaching the Quintessence of Chinese Culture—Appreciation of Beijing Opera and shared this course on MOOC. At present, Zhang is preparing for the fourth-round of this course. This course is a "panoramic overview" on Beijing Opera. It introduces basic knowledge of Beijing Opera like history, roles, vocals, accompaniment, stage, props, genres and others comprehensively within a limited time. This knowledge not only comes from authoritative research on Beijing Opera, but also from Zhang Peng’s interviews with professors for Beijing Opera and his own opinions about Beijing Opera.
