CUEB Holds the 18th Sports Meeting
In the blooming April, vibrant with spring hues,
CUEB plays host to its grand sports gala.
In the gleaming new sports arena,
students pour forth sweat and zeal,
with fiery determination.
On the playground,
they showcase the spirit of “Faster, Higher, Stronger” with passions,
radiating the true essence of CUEB,
in honor of 75 glorious years of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC)
Opening ceremony of the sports meeting
From April 25 to 26, CUEB’s 18th Sports Meeting took place at the playground. Present at the ceremony were Wu Weixing, CUEB Deputy Party Secretary and President; Xu Fang and Meng Bo, Deputy Party Secretaries; Mao Baizhan, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Disciplinary Committee; Yao Linxiu, Chen Yanbin, and Li Kunpeng, Members of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice Presidents, as well as Zhao Guang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Director of Party Committee Organization Department and United Front Work Division. Vice President Li Xiaomu presided over the meeting.
In his opening address, Wu Weixing greeted the enthusiastic athletes and offered heartfelt thanks to the teachers and students for their careful preparation. He emphasized CUEB’s commitment to holistic education and the “Three-Wide Education” system (which means all educational workers strive to foster students in all processes and all respects), encouraging everyone to prioritize health in education. He also encouraged students to enjoy physical exercise, increase fitness, develop moral character, and fortify resolve. He hoped that by collective efforts, the sports meeting would showcase the best of CUEBers and develop into a civilized, vibrant, and exciting meeting.
The referee representative Gai Liangzi, and the athlete representative, Ding Yipeng solemnly pledged their commitment.
Accompanied by inspiring music, the flag bearers marched confidently into the stadium, while group gymnastics teams in high spirit from various colleges entered, standing tall and proud.
Group Gymnastics Performance
A total of 350 sophomore students from the dance course performed in a show themed “Unity and Harmony”, reflecting on the past and looking forward to the future. Their agile figures leapt across the track and field, their graceful dance movements radiating with youthful vigor. They strived for excellence, living up to the spirit of the new era and the prime of their youth.
Approximately 1500 students from 15 school-level teams participated in the group gymnastics performance competition, each presenting innovative formations and showcasing their unique charm.
School of Management and Engineering presented a vibrant display, with colorful fans pulsating in time to upbeat music. The performance presented the students’ confidence, passion, exuberance and vitality.
Overseas Chinese College made a vibrant appearance on the sports field with agile movements, in full passion and energy, carrying a rich classical charm.
Students from the School of Public Finance and Taxation danced gracefully, and their presence commanded great attention. Their dancing performance was a perfect example of the power of teamwork and the passion of youth.
Students from the School of Statistics swayed to the upbeat music, and performed a wonderful dragon dance, like a vibrant rainbow piercing through the sky, symbolizing the vigor and vitality of youth.
Students from the International School of Economics and Management strode forward with enthusiasm and vitality,dedicating their youthful spirit to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the PRC.
The performance of the School of Labor Economics displayed the power of youth with uplifting enthusiasm and determined vigor, and each movement of the students was brimming with strength and passion.
Drumbeats echo and colorful flags flutter in the performance of the School of Culture and Communication, and the students neatly formed the word “China”, expressing heartfelt wishes for the prosperity of our motherland.
A hundred students from the School of Accounting waved the flags and paid tribute to the Olympic spirit with the five rings, showing their style with energetic performances and synchronized movements.
With the vigor and passion of youth, the School of Economics’ performance showed a splendid chapter, demonstrating the spirit of progress and perseverance.
The performance of the School of Finance echoed with the beat of Ansai waist drums (a traditional dance of Ansai District in Yan’an City, Shaanxi Province), symbolizing the glorious revolutionary journey with rhythmic beats and showing the strength from unwavering faith.
The well-trained and rhythmic dance of the College of Business Administration exuded youthful vitality, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the PRC with zest.
Students from the College of Urban Economics and Public Administration joined forces, dancing out the new era’s style with lively and cheerful movements to welcome the motherland’s birthday with youthful exuberance.
Students from the School of Data Science were full of energy, dancing to melodious tunes, and showcasing the charm of the young generation.
Students from the School of Foreign Studies waved colorful flags, expressing heartfelt wishes for the success of the “Belt and Road” initiative. Their performance created a picture of shared prosperity and mutual respect.
School of Law gave a distinctive group gymnastics display with a dragon dance and fan dance to commemorate its 40th anniversary.
Each college showcased the spirit of sports through meticulously crafted performances, demonstrating students’ enthusiastic pursuit, genuine teamwork, and vibrant youthfulness.
After the group gymnastics performance, the sports meeting officially commenced, with students engaging in intense competitive events. Cheers from other students reverberated through the spectator stands as they supported the athletes and wished all competitors outstanding achievements and glory!
Closing ceremony of the sports meeting
At 4:30 pm, the school hosted the closing ceremony of the sports meeting. Chief Referee Chen Si announced the results of the group gymnastics competition, while Chief Referee Liao Yangang announced the results of the physical fitness test competition. Hu Wen, Secretary of the Youth League Committee, then revealed the list of units honored with the Spiritual Civilization Award, Best Organization Award, and Bravery Award. Finally, Chief Referee Wang Changyou declared the overall scores of the competing teams.
