On the afternoon of October 6, CUEB held the Review and Awards Ceremony of Serving Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics at Zhuoyu Auditorium.

Liu Bingquan, Minister of Department Universities and Vocational Secondary Schools Affairs of Beijing Municipal Committee of the Youth League, CUEB Party Secretary Han Xianzhou, President Fu Zhifeng, a member of the Standing Committee of CUEB Party Committee and Vice President Sun Haozhe, heads of relevant functional departments, Deputy Party Secretaries and Secretaries of Branches of Youth League Committee of Schools, leading teachers of volunteers and part of representatives of volunteers attended the ceremony presided over by Li Xiaoou, Secretary of CUEB Youth League Committee . 

Han Xianzhou remarked that we must learn from Winter Olympics, enhance the honor of loving the Party, the country and the university and strengthen our consciousness of the need to maintain political integrity, think in big-picture terms, follow the leadership core and keep in alignment, enhance confidence in the path, theory, system and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics. To win more honors for CUEB, we need to strengthen beliefs and pass on the revolutionary spirit. To contribute to the capital in the new era, we should follow, carry forward and pass on the spirit of the Winter Olympics, and shoulder the responsibility to uphold the mission of “Being Based in Beijing, Serving the capital”. To make China’s voice heard globally and tell China’s stories well, CUEB teachers and students should continue to make progress in post-Games work, raise awareness of sports and fitness and conduct ideological and political education by making full use of resources of the Winter Olympics. Han emphasized that our political priority is to prepare for the Party’s 20th National Congress and study, publicize and implement its spirit. Let us carry forward the spirit and positive energy of the Games and forge CUEB into Beijing Municipal high-level research university and China’s first-class and worldly-renowned university of finance and economics more confidently and determinedly.

President Fu Zhifeng announced Decision on Awarding CUEB Outstanding Groups and Individuals in Serving Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics. The College of Urban Economics and Public Administration and other 32 units were awarded “Outstanding Organization Award”; Yanglan and other 134 comrades “Outstanding Individuals in Services”; Hu Shuaiqi and other 140 comrades “Outstanding Volunteers”; Luo Hao and other 459 comrades “Excellent Volunteers”. Leaders and guests presented awards to representatives.

Sun Haozhe made a comprehensive review of our service work from four aspects: building a strong service team under the leadership of the Party; implementing targeted and effective epidemic prevention and control to ensure the safe and smooth progress of the Games; making good use of this great event to foster virtue through “Broader Ideological and Political Education”; and giving great care to teachers and students, such as celebrating the Spring Festival for volunteers who could not go home.

Liu Bingquan, in recognition of the efforts of our volunteers, praised that the excellent work of CUEB mirrored its strong responsibilities as a key university in Beijing. Liu said that all students should bear in mind the words of President Xi Jinping to work as a model and devote ourselves into the capital development. All should follow the spirit of Winter Olympics to blaze the new journey to build a modern socialist country with our original aspiration.

The Beijing Winter Olympics has added new splendor to China's national rejuvenation. CUEBers were privileged to work for this incredible sports gala. In the sharing session, 17 teachers and students shared their understandings about the spirit of Winter Olympics, their daily work, touching stories and gains during the Games. They were so proud of our nation’s remarkable development and achievements in the new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the past 10 years, and vowed to say “Please the Party Stay Assured, for the Country Has All of us to Make It Stronger” and “Contribute the Youth and Passion to the Developments of Beijing and China.”

The ceremony comes to an end with the singing of “Snowflakes” by members of the College Student Art Group.

Beijing 2022 is an important event in our history as it plays a huge role in enhancing national image, growth and spirits. In the future, CUEB will further learn from the successful experience of Beijing 2022. Guided by this, we will continue the publicity of excellent volunteers and pursue the spirit of Beijing Olympic Winter Games: bearing in mind the big picture, being confident and open, rising to the challenges, pursuing excellence, and creating a better future together. CUEB shall welcome the convening of the 20th National Congress of CPC with actions and progress.
