CUEB Taps all Resources for Employment
On March 16, the Career Guidance Centre of the Office of Student Affairs of CUEB and the Employment and Entrepreneurship Guidance Center for College Students in Beijing jointly held a large-scale job fair. Han Xianzhou, Party Secretary of CUEB, Kuang Xiaozhen, Director of the Beijing Guidance Center for Career and Entrepreneurship, and deputy director Su Xiuli gave an on-site guidance for the fair.
Almost 105 great companies were invited to the fair, including 52 central and state-owned companies, 16 high-tech and foreign-funded enterprises, and more than 20 well-known large enterprises. Those companies include the Beijing Branch of the Agricultural Bank of China, the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, the China State Decoration Group Co., Ltd, the Beijing Branch of the Bank of Communications Co., Ltd, the Beijing Foreign Enterprise Service Group Co., Ltd., four top accounting firms, the Sinochem Insurance Brokers and others, covering strong competitive sectors, such as science and technology, energy, entertainment and IT beyond finance and retail industry. It was estimated that nearly 2000 positions were offered by those high-level companies. Having deep exchanges with employers, graduates handed in almost 6808 resumes with 1600 employment intentions initially reached.
The Party Committee of CUEB has always put employment first. Given that, CUEB has cooperated with various sources for high-quality employment in 2023. Concrete actions were as follows: first, CUEB has paid attention to the integration of “going outside” and “bringing in”, working to promote employment with enterprises concerned. Departments at school-level and university-level have played their respective roles and visited several important employers and human resources and social security bureaus in different districts in Beijing. On top of that, the initiative of “Hundred Talents” launched by China Merchant Bank and other school-enterprise cooperative projects have been promoted. Central enterprises and state-owned enterprises were also involved to enable graduates to seek employment through more channels. Second, CUEB has adopted the “Face to Face” method to ensure stable employment. By now, the Office of Student Affairs and various schools have conducted off-line talks with Human Resources and Social Security Bureau of Fengtai District, Public Services Centre of Human Resources and Social Security Bureau of Xicheng and Chaoyang District, as well as Communist Youth League of Chaoyang District in terms of district-level employment policy, employment situation and internship. Several departments of CUEB have joined hands to dig out more resources to broaden the employment channels. Third, CUEB has offered graduates personalized employment guidance and categorized employment services. With a career guidance studio among colleges and universities in Beijing as the primary platform, CUEB has taken active steps to build an employment service system while seeking guidance from off-campus departments, so as to fully leverage the employment guidance resources. Multiple activities have been put into practice, such as “resume clinic”, “individual consultation”, “employment training camp”, “employment workshop”, as well as the “civil service exam training center”. In this way, students can enjoy consultation and guidance services on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Ultimately, the goal is to offer students personalized and targeted services and then further reduce their burden of employment, so as to improve their job-hunting skills and abilities.
Going forward, CUEB will continue to broaden employment channels and hold more small-size but high-quality job fairs that aim at different groups including alumni, industries and regions. The oversea study exhibition will also be held to provide more resources to those who have a willingness to study abroad. Moreover, efforts will be made to offer targeted assistance to those who have difficulty in job-hunting. Looking ahead, an enabling employment situation that coordinates departments, schools and all members in CUEB is expected to take shape to ensure high-quality employment in a more comprehensive manner.
