CUEB Convenes Work Deployment and Training for Undergraduate Education Evaluation
On March 15, Beijing Municipal Education Commission (BMEC) convened “Work Deployment and Training for Undergraduate Education Evaluation” both online and offline. Li Xiaomu, Vice President of CUEB, together with heads from the Academic Affairs Office and the Development Planning Division and other relevant departments, attended the offline meeting at the main venue: Beijing Conference Center. Liu Chang’an, deputy director of BMEC, presided over the meeting.
During the meeting, Lin Huiqing, former Deputy Minister of Education, elaborated on the positive role of the new round of undergraduate education evaluation in promoting high-quality development of higher education and bringing structural transformation under the title “Assessment for excellence: striving for a high-quality education system”. On top of that, Li Yi, deputy director of BMEC, also issued instructions on review and evaluation work. He noted that universities owned by Beijing Municipal should develop a deeper understanding and firmer grasp of the significance and practical requirements of the new round of evaluation. It is also important to seize such an opportunity for greater personalized development of universities. This process shall be led by organizations with concrete actions.
Later, attendees from different departments and universities made speeches as follows: Li Zhi, Vice Director of the Education Quality Evaluation Agency of the Ministry of Education, gave a speech themed “Assessment for reform: focusing on the key points of the evaluation and promote development through digital service”. Li Zhiyi, former president of the Shenyang University of Chemical Technology, offered a lecture themed “Interpretation of the plan on the New Round of Undergraduate Evaluation”. Wu Jingyi, subdean of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, delivered the speech under the title of “Striving for greater excellence: clarifying positions and tapping into strengths” Then, Zhang Dayu, president of the Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, delivered a speech as the representative of the participating universities.
The meeting has briefed the attendants on the arrangements and requirements of the undergraduate education evaluation during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025). Also, several key parts including the evaluation plan and evaluation procedure are clearly informed. It is reported that 22 universities owned by Beijing Municipal will be involved in the new round of review and evaluation, and CUEB will also participate in the assessment of advanced-level research universities (Category II) in May 2024.
