CUEB Holds 10th Role Models Award Ceremony
On March 23, the 10th Role Models Award Ceremony titled “Pledge to the Party to Make Our Country Strong” kicked off at Zhuoyu Auditorium in Boyuan Building to reward all outstanding groups and individuals who received scholarships and honorary titles during the 2021-2022 academic year. Han Xianzhou, Party Secretary of CUEB, Xu Fang and Wu Hui, Deputy Party Secretaries, Yin Zhichao, Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President, attended the ceremony. Sun Haozhe, Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President, presided over the ceremony.
Han Xianzhou remarked that patriotism is the core of the ceremony, and it is also a reflection of “inheriting the revolutionary spirit and sustaining our revolutionary legacy” with CUEB’s characteristics. Since the year of 2023 is the first year to implement the spirit of the Party’s 20th National Congress, we must firmly bear in mind the thought of “two overall situations” (the national rejuvenation strategy within a wider context of the once-in-a-century changes), and grasp the essence of the “two-step strategic plan”. That means China will basically realize socialist modernization from 2020 through 2035 and build it into a great modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious, and beautiful from 2035 through the middle of this century. Through vivid and rich historical events and classic cases, he reviewed the glorious undertakings and great achievements of the unremitting Party members in the past generations. He guided students to correctly understand the goals, responsibilities, and struggles by telling his own experiences.
He emphasized that General Secretary Xi Jinping highly values and cares about youth, and delivered a series of important speeches on youth work, encouraging young people to be ideal, tough and responsible. He used touching stories of General Secretary Xi Jinping to encourage students to take the initiative to learn from role models. Keep in mind the motto to “Stay Young and Keep Fighting”, we need to practice at grassroots, namely, discovering the spirit of China with our own eyes, listening to the voice of the people with our own ears, feeling the pulse of the time with our own hearts. We must realize the value of life to take up the relay in promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
The ceremony kicked off with the opening video "CUEBers Walking in the Light". Xi Ran from the School of Culture and Communication, and Feng Yi from the School of Economics, together with other students, presented an original stage play "Blessed with Light and Wish to Shine". The stage play follows the story that a student gradually strengthened her belief and her motivation to join the Party after close communication with her friends, parents, and teachers. This play is a vivid reflection of numerous CUEBers, motivating all teachers and students to feel the strength of their beliefs in the Party under the definite pledge to the Party to make our country strong.
