CUEB Holds Workshop for 2023 Graduates Employment
On April 11, as required by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission (BMEC), CUEB, together with 13 universities and colleges in Beijing, held the workshop of 2023 graduates employment. Fu Lei, Director of Career Guidance Centre, presided over the meeting, and Wang Dong, head of the college student affairs office at BMEC, attended the meeting.
Wang Dong briefed on the details of the progress in employment in Beijing and further illustrated the requirements of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality on college graduates employment. Also, he pointed out that colleges and universities shall take more active steps to promote employment and do a better job in the education and guidance of 2023 graduates. It is also necessary for them to cooperate with enterprises for targeted employment. On top of that, more efforts shall be done to strengthen career education in colleges and universities and provide more high-quality employment guidance. For those who have difficulty in job-hunting, more targeted assistance should be offered. Specific measures are expected to be taken in a bid to create employment through entrepreneurship. It is also important for colleges and universities to strike a balance in graduate employment. That also means they should focus more on the structure of professional cultivation and then further form a mechanism tying recruitment, cultivation and employment to find solutions to “break the five only” (thesis only, project only, award only, title only, rank only) and facilitate full, high-quality employment for 2023 graduates. Wang Dong also acknowledged the efforts of CUEB in aligning the locale departments of human resources and social security and giving priority to employment. He encouraged colleges and universities in Beijing to consolidate the employment achievements and form a closer tie between disciplinary advancement and employment promotion, in an attempt to leverage the strengths of Beijing as the capital where high-quality colleges and universities are highly concentrated.
Wang Jinbao expounded on the overall situation of graduates employment in 2022 and 2023. Participating colleges and universities also exchanged their views on the employment situation in 2023, the current mood of graduates in seeking job, the difficulties and problems facing the graduates, the ways to achieve full and high-quality employment, as well as how to guide them to work at primary-level organizations and how to evaluate the cultivation quality through employment. Moreover, endemic problems facing the college graduates employment still remain. With this in mind, relevant suggestions were put forward during the meeting.
Other participants were as follows: Lin Weiran, deputy director of the college student affairs office at BMEC. Chen Yanliang, cadre of the college student affairs office at BMEC.
