President Wu Weixing and His Team Visit China International Communications Groups
On the morning of November 8, Wu Weixing, CUEB Deputy Party Secretary and President and his team visited China International Communications Group (CICG). The two sides had an in-depth exchange. Attendees included Yu Tao, Vice President of CICG, Ma Yutao, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Human Resources of CICG, Li Hongru, Deputy Director of the Center for Cultural Communication of CICG, Xing Yutang, Deputy Dean of Translation Institute of CICG. Yu Tao presided over the meeting.
Yu Tao welcomed Wu Weixing and his team, and introduced the business of CICG. He pointed out that Xi Jinping Thought on Culture, which was first put forward at a national meeting on public communication and culture in October this year, provides us with guidelines for public communication and culture to better shoulder the new cultural mission on the new journey in the new era. It puts forward higher goals for the construction of international communication capacity, the cultivation of high-level translators, and the construction of the translation disciplines. CUEB has obvious advantages in economy, business, and finance, so the two sides expected to strengthen cooperation, cultivate more interdisciplinary professional translators, thus making greater contributions to the exchanges, mutual understanding of civilizations, and China’s socioeconomic development.

Wu Weixing introduced the main achievements of CUEB in serving the nation and Beijing in the new era and the current situation of discipline construction and personnel cultivation. He said that the cooperation has a broad prospect, and expected that CICG would give more support to CUEB in terms of the above aspects, as well as in practice bases construction, so as to jointly help capital development and international exchanges.

Meng Bo, Deputy Party Secretary, and Chen Yanbin, Member of the Standing Committee of the CUEB Party Committee and Vice President gave speeches. Meng stated that with profound history and renowned Chinese and foreign experts, CICG has undertaken many important national tasks. In the future, it is hoped that the two sides would carry out more in-depth cooperation and exchanges to support personnel cultivation and discipline development of the School of Foreign Studies of CUEB. Chen said that personnel cultivation in the new era needs to strengthen cooperation between universities and social institutions, especially important state ministries. The visit to explore CICG personnel training base is a concrete initiative of CUEB to innovate the concept of personnel training.
Participants from both sides had an in-depth discussion on joint development of Party branch, practice bases, cooperative projects, young teachers’ exchange, and students’ voluntary service, and then worked out a preliminary cooperation plan. Finally, both sides reached a consensus that this investigation deepened understanding of each other and laid a foundation for further cooperation. In the future, both sides would strengthen exchanges, expand cooperation, and jointly cultivate high-level translators and international communication personnel, so as to improve the ability to serve the nation.
