The approval of the doctoral program in theoretical economics is not only a recognition of CUEB’s disciplinary construction but also a new challenge. He also emphasized that CUEB plans to strengthen its faculty, optimize its curriculum, deepen international cooperation, explore interdisciplinary integration, and cultivate high-quality personnel in theoretical economics while promoting its progress. Finally, Chen Yanbin expressed his hope that experts would continue to support CUEB’s development and provide constructive suggestions for the doctoral programs in theoretical economics. Following this, Du Wencui and Zeng Xueting presented on the construction of the doctoral programs in theoretical economics on behalf of the School of Economics and the School of Labor Economics, respectively. Wang Jun chaired the first session of the meeting.
During the discussion session, experts expressed congratulations on the approval of the program and emphasized that the approval was merely a start, and the subsequent construction of the program was the real challenge. Experts shared insights and valuable suggestions on the construction of CUEB’s doctoral program in theoretical economics and its development plans, focusing on areas such as sub-disciplines planning, faculty training, curriculum construction, and qualified education. At the end of the meeting, Yang Chunxue made a summary. He highly praised the pertinent remarks put forward by the experts and reiterated his heartfelt gratitude for their guidance. Yang Chunxue emphasized that the development of the discipline should focus on its distinctive features while closely aligning with major national development strategies and the economic and social development strategies of the capital. Although the construction of theoretical economics at CUEB has a long way to go, as long as we continue to optimize research directions and training programs, refine disciplinary advantages, and fully absorb experts’ suggestions, the future of theoretical economics will certainly be bright. This high-level seminar came to a successful close in a strong academic atmosphere and in-depth discussions.
