From August 22 to 23, the Beijing Session of 2026 World Youth Model United Nations (hereafter the Model UN) took place at CUEB. It was hosted by the Center for Chinese-Foreign Humanities Exchange of the Ministry of Education and Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU),undertaken by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP) and the BFSU Education and Training Center, with the School ofForeign Studies as the co-organizer.

The conference brought together 252 student delegates from 118 schools across 17 provinces and municipalities nationwide, together with 24 presidium members and 36 faculty advisors. Seven parallel sessions were held in Chinese and English, covering ecological governance, educational security, women’s and children health, food security, cultural heritage protection and labor rights.

The opening ceremony was held at the Zhuoyu Auditorium. Li Kunpeng, Member of Standing Committee of CUEB Party Committee and Vice President; Huang Youyi, Vice President ofChina Academy of Translation (CAT), Chair of the Expert Committee of the China National Committee for Graduate Education of Translation and Interpreting(GETI), and former Deputy DirectorGeneral of China International Communications Group (CICG); Jin Li, Honorary Editor-in-Chief of Foreign Literature and former Vice President of BFSU; Huang Yulong, President of the Academy of Translation and Interpretation,China International Communications Group CICG Academy of Translation and Interpretation, and Zhou Yan, former Deputy SecretaryGeneral of the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) and a member of the Expert Steering Committee of the New-Youth Global Competence Development Program, jointly launched the conference.

Xin Ran, a student delegate from Tianjin Yaohua High School, shared her insights from preparing for the conference and her expectations for the event. Wang Qiheng, a representative of the presidium from Tsinghua University, gave academic guidance on conference rules and negotiation skills. All delegates read aloud the Preamble to the Charter of the United Nations.

During the session, delegates discussed major global governance issues in their respective parallel sessions. Based on the positions and national conditions of the countries they represented, they went through standard Model UN procedures: submitting motions, delivering speeches, holding informal consultations and revising draft documents. Seven highquality draft resolutions were formulated. Delegations from each session presented their deliberation outcomes and conducted on-site voting.

This Model UN conference offers a professional, international platform for young people nationwide. Through simulated diplomatic proceedings, students broadenedtheir global vision, sharpened critical thinking and public-speaking skills, and fostered teamwork spirit. Going forward, the event will further advance youthoriented people-to-people exchanges between Chinese and foreign countries. It will help young learners develop global competence and convey the international vision of win-win cooperation through the voice of youth.
