Introduction to CUEB’s Finance Discipline
Founded in 1978, the Discipline ofFinancein CUEB has evolved into the key discipline in Beijing after over 40 years of development, fostering many outstanding graduates including Shang Fulin, former Chairman of China Securities Regulatory Commission. The School of Finance, as an important base for training financial personnel, holds the authority to confer master’s and doctoral degrees in Finance, and master’s degrees in Finance and Insurance. It also offers digital economy (or digital finance) programs for Master of Quantitative Finance. At the undergraduate level, the School of Finance offers six majors, including Finance, International Finance, Financial Engineering, Insurance (Actuarial Science), Investment, and Fintech. In 2017, the Discipline of Finance was ranked as one of the key majors in Beijing, as a national and first-class undergraduate major in 2019, followed by the majors of Financial Engineering and Insurance in 2021. The Discipline of Insurance was ranked as a first-class major in Beijing in 2021.
Among the current faculty, there are 85 full-time teachers, including 17 professors and 39 deputy professors. Among them are recipients of Major Talents Program supported by the Ministry of Education, top talents from national “Thousand Talents Plan”, members from National Cultural Celebrities and “Four Batches of Talents”, talents from New Century Excellent Talents of the Ministry of Education, young scholars and famous teachers in Beijing. Over the past five years, the faculty has secured nearly 30 national projects including Major Projects of National Social Science Fund of China. Additionally, they have published over 200 papers in authoritative journals both at home and abroad, such as the Economic Research Journal, Management World, and Management Science.
Introduction to GRAS
In 2009, ShanghaiRanking began to release global university rankings by subjects, namely, ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS). It covers 55 subjects, including Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medicine and Social Sciences. The GRAS adopts internationally comparable and objective academic indicators, covering World-Class Faculty,World-Class Achievements, High-Level Research Outputs, Research Impact, and International Collaboration.GRAScovers over 5,000 universities worldwide, with more than 1900 institutions from 96 countries and regions on the lists across various disciplines.
