On the morning of October 17th, CUEB held the inaugural ceremony of the Promotion Association for Alumni Enterprises on the school’s 65th anniversary. Outstanding alumni representatives attended the meeting.

Cui Xulong, member of the CPC Fengtai District Committee and Vice Chief Director of Fengtai District People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, Wang Fujun, Deputy General Manager of Beijing Lize Holdings Co., Ltd., Gao Chunhai, President of Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU) Alumni Entrepreneurs Alliance and Chairman of Traffic Control Technology Co., Ltd., CUEB Party Secretary Han Xianzhou, CUEB Vice Party Secretary Wu Hui, CUEB Vice President Ding Lihong and alumni representatives attended the meeting. The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Zhao Xiling, Director of the External Relations and Cooperation Office of CUEB, Secretary General of CUEB Alumni Association, Beijing Municipal Universities Education Foundation and Vice Chairman of China ESG (Environment, Social Responsibility, Corporate Governance) Institute, and was broadcast live on the official CUEB Weibo. 

In his speech, Han Xianzhou extended sincere welcome and immense gratitude to all staff, students, and alumni at home and abroad who made contributions to CUEB’s development. Additionally, on behalf of the President Fu Zhifeng, Han celebrated the establishment of the CUEB Promotion Association for Alumni Enterprises Development and thanked graduates for their devotion. It was pointed out that in recent years, by cultivating people through moral education, CUEB, based on Beijing and serving Beijing, had steadily moved forward the development and implement of the CUEB “14th Five-Year Plan” and the construction of municipal high-level research universities, making a new series of gratifying achievements.

Han Xianzhou pointed out that alumni are the most valuable resources and assets of the university, and the cultivation of students should not be limited to the period from matriculation to graduation. Providing alumni with resources and a platform for lifelong learning is an inherent requirement of schools, and it is a further extension and improvement of the “Three Aspects Education” (namely, the integrity of all staff, whole process and all-around education) mechanism of schools. This year, coinciding with the centenary of the Communist Party of China and the 65th anniversary of CUEB, and the establishment of this Promotion Association is also an achievement and symbol of the development of CUEB. Han hoped that it can play the role as an important platform to connect alumni. It will not only become a major force to serve the development of colleges and universities, local economic and social development, and national development strategy, but make outstanding contributions to the cultivation of talents in universities. In the journey of entering a new development stage, implementing a new development philosophy, and serving a new development pattern, all CUEBers will continue to make progress and write a new chapter featuring a Beijing-based, capital-oriented, high-quality development.

In the speech, Cui Xulong first expressed his affirmation and appreciation of the effectiveness of CUEB’s services to the local community. He said that Fengtai District is a central part of the capital and a major recipient of core functions relieved from capital. It is the “main battlefield” of the capital North-South development strategy and the center of the new round of development action in the southern part of the city. In recent years, according to the functional position promoted by Master Plan of Beijing (2016-2035), Fengtai has closely focused on building itself up as a new business area for capital, an integrated development area for science, technological innovation and financial services, an important area for the guaranteed services and supply of high-quality living standards, new urbanization development area led by history, culture and ecological conservation, and a comprehensive, high-level transport-hub. With the development of important functional areas such as Lize Financial Business District and Fengtai Science Park, Fengtai District has stepped into the fast lane. Cui introduced the development of Fengtai District in detail from four aspects: space resources, industry development, transportation, and business environment. Besides, he also said that Fengtai District will compliment CUEB in many aspects, such as collaborative schooling and taking full advantage of the university, and having closer connection with the CUEB Promotion Association.

Han Xianzhou and Sun Xiaolin, an Industrial Economics major alumnus of Grade 1978, Co-founder of Beijing Strong Biotechnologies, Inc., as well as the President of the Promotion Association for Alumni Enterprises Development, attended the ceremony as honored participants.

Wu Hui and Ding Lihong presented Sun Xiaolin, the representative of this Promotion Association, and Wang Qingze, a Statistics major alumnus of Grade 1990, as well as the Chairman of Beijing Huaxin Estate Group and Secretary General of Promotion Association for Alumni Enterprises Development with the flag.

In his speech, Sun Xiaolin said that this association is an exchange and cooperation platform organized by entrepreneur graduates voluntarily. It aims to unite the alumni and enterprises, strengthen the communication between the alma mater and alumni business and share resources network, to promote the development of alumni and their enterprises. Through actively carrying out innovative projects and public-spirited activities, we gather the wisdom and energy of alumni of CUEB so that we can carry forward the spirit of the school motto “Advocate morality, value competence, strategize national development, and serve the people” and give back more fully to our alma mater and society. In the future, the Promotion Association welcomes active participation of alumni entrepreneurs, to jointly put the sentiment and responsibility of bridge building, making progress and respecting their alma mater while putting these values into practice. The flourishing graduates are the corner stone of the alma mater. The enlightened alma mater is the centripetal force attracting the graduates. Sun is confident in the future of this Promotion Association and believes it is destined to reach its full potential.

In his speech, Wang Qingze introduced that the organization has been in ongoing development for nearly 6 years from the initial proposal to today’s establishment. At present, there are 143 members, from Grade 1977 to Grade 2011, covering alumni entrepreneurs from various sectors such as environmental protection, high-end manufacturing, Internet platform, real estate development, film and television industry, clothing, and much more. Alumni from all 15 schools of CUEB have joined. In addition, he also gave a detailed introduction to the management and prospects of the association from four aspects, including membership development, activity development, secretariat work and president’s meeting.

In the section of representatives discussion, Bai Mudi, a Real Estate Management major alumnus from Grade 1996, Chairman of Zhongmin Culture Media Development Co., Ltd., Co-founder of Zhongguancun Small and Medium Technology and Culture Enterprise Promotion Association, and Liu Jingjing, an Economics and Trade major graduate of Grade 1992, Chairman of Beijing Porridge Jiahe Catering Management Co., Ltd. talked about the bright future of the association touching on her life experiences and work experiences. They all agreed that the ultimate wish of alumni entrepreneurs is to give back to their alma mater and society. They hope to rely on this platform to cultivate the alumni economy, contribute to the development of the university and alumni enterprises, and make greater contribution to society. What’s more, a few graduates did not come to the event because of the epidemic or being overseas, they also expressed their sincere congratulations to the 65th anniversary of CUEB and the establishment of the Promotion Association through videos.

In the ceremony, CUEB also invited senior graduates to organize a consultative group of experts in order to instruct the work of this meeting. The first four alumni are Chen Quansheng, a Labor Economics major alumnus of Grade 1978, Research Fellow of Counsellor’s Office of the State Council, Liu Xuemin, a Business Management major alumni of Grade 1980, the Chairman of First Capital Securities Co., Ltd., Wang Lei, an Economics major alumnus of Grade 1980, Deputy President of the Promotion Association, and Liu Tingru, a Business Management major postgraduate of Grade 1985, the Chairman of Infotech Ventures Co., Ltd..

Sun Xiaolin presented the appointment letters to Liu Xuemin and Liu Tingru, the representatives’ consultant.

Liu Xuemin spoke as the representatives’ consultant. He expressed his heartfelt wishes for the 65th anniversary of his alma mater and the establishment of the Promotion Association. He said that as we live in a great era, we should devote ourselves to the great project of reform and opening up. Besides, he hoped that the alumni enterprises can actively practice ESG, environmentally friendly lifestyles and the reform and opening up so that we can realize our value in this great era.

In the sharing section, Gao Chunhai, the First President of Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU) Alumni Entrepreneurs Alliance and Chairman of Traffic Control Technology Co., Ltd., stated that we should build a targeted communication platform for graduates of different generations based on the Promotion Association, establish a standard regulation and organization, and create a featured alumni brand activity to improve the thriving development of the Promotion Association.

Jian Hong, Secretary General of Alumni Entrepreneur Association of Wuhan University, shared his ideas through a specialized video. In the video, he showed his specific practices and experiences of the constant development of the alumni economy, contributions to the alma mater and the local community. At the same time, he hoped to enhance the communication with the CUEB Promotion Association for Alumni Enterprises Development and make good use of alumni resources to make progress together.

In the next section, Qian Longhai, the Direct General of CUEB China ESG Institute, the Secretary of Party Committee of First Capital Securities Co., Ltd., and the Chairman of Board of Supervisors wished congratulations via video for the establishment of the Promotion Association. He believed that this movement will be the driving force for the development of alumni enterprises, tightening the connections between graduates and their alma mater and increasing the growth of CUEB spirit in future generations.

Liu Xuexin, Executive Director of CUEB China ESG Institute, and Dean of the College of Business Administration gave a detailed introduction of great strategic meaning, relative researches of CUEB ESG and CUEB China ESG Institute. He said that CUEB is the follower and advocate of ESG in Chinese enterprises and advocated for the community to be a volunteer and builder working together in the future.

At the end of the ceremony, Sun Xiaolin released the joint initiative of alumni enterprises practicing ESG. He hoped that alumni enterprises can consciously integrate ESG into corporate culture and strategy planning while seeking self-development. In the pursuit of economic benefit, we need to balance the contributions of environment, society and governance and explore the ESG model with Chinese characteristics to continue to improve the development of local ESG. We also need to advocate more enterprises and entrepreneurs to practice the China ESG and contribute their wisdom and strength toward a better Earth.

In the afternoon, the alumni symposiums celebrating the 65th anniversary of CUEB were held respectively in No.1 and No.2 meeting room of Boyuan Building. Representatives of alumni entrepreneurs discussed how to take full advantage of alumni resources, improve alumni resources, serve our alma mater and the capital. Furthermore, constructive suggestions of building a resource platform, carrying out in-depth cooperation between universities and enterprises, strengthening the value pursuit and interactive link of alumni enterprises, improving the database, helping employment and career planning, building up the relearning platform for graduates, asking for the support of government to ensure the success of the alumni economy and other practical suggestions were also mentioned. Han Xianzhou, Wu Hui, Ding Lihong with other school leaders and Zhao Xiling, Shao Lili and other heads of this Promotion Association Secretariat accepted the suggestions of the alumni.
