2015 University Ecological Civilization Education Forum Held at CUEB
CUEB President Wang Jiaqiong delivered the opening speech and extended warm welcome to the guests and representatives. As CUEB is a national education base for ecological civilization, President Wang briefly introduced its practices and experience of fostering ecological civilization in talents training, academic research, social service and other aspects. He also pointed out that college students were the backbone of China’s future modernization and the driving force to facilitate the development of ecological civilization. Therefore, colleges and universities had the responsibility and duty to carry out ecological education in that they were responsible for training students conducive to social development. Considering this forum as a beginning, he also hoped that we could carry out the work based on national education base for ecological education, and contribute wisdom and strength to build a “wild China” and achieve sustainable development of the Chinese nation.
To establish a communication and exchange mechanism for ecological civilization education in universities and further emphasize universities’ leading role in ecological civilization advancement, the task force of ecological civilization education in universities was co-built by ten colleges and universities, which were approved as the national education bases for ecological civilization, such as Peking University, Fudan University, Wuhan University, Beijing Forestry University, Northest Forestry University, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University, Hunan University of Environment and Biology, Jiangxi Environmental Engineering Vocational College and CUEB. The task force’s plaque was unveiled by Fan Xibin, deputy director of Propaganda Office of State Forestry Administration, and Ke Wenjin, CUEB Party Secretary.
Liu Weihe, director of China Green Times, announced the list of the 7th China’s Top Ten Ecological Prose. Xue Hongxing announced the list of college students practice base for ecological civilization education. Leaders and experts sitting on the rostrum presented the prizes and awards to the winners and organizations. Zhang Chuanhui, deputy minister of Rural Youth Work Division, Chinese Communist Youth League, and Huang Keying, deputy secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League, came to the front and opened the scroll of College Students' Ecological Civilization Initiative Action, which was released during the meeting.
At noon, the attendees visited the section devoted to Ecology and American Literature at the library.
In the afternoon, the forum was divided into three sub-forums, focusing on collaborative development and ecological civilization education of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, the development of natural literature and ecological culture cultivation and ecological civilization practice in universities and mechanism innovation of professionals training.
On November 1st, the attendees visited Changgou Town in Fangshan District and held a meeting with party committee and government leaders on topics like ecological and industrial development.
China Green Times, the Organizing Committee of Chinese Characteristic Town Development Forum and China Center for Sustainable Development Research of Peking University co-organized the forum.
The attendees were Zhang Wenbin, deputy director with the Department of Ideological and Political Work of Ministry of Education, Huang Kai, committee member of Beijing Municipal Committee, Ye Wenhu, former member of Standing Committee of China Zhi Gong Party and director of China Center for Sustainable Development Research of Peking University, Xue Hongxing, secretary of the Organizing Committee of Chinese Characteristic Town Development Forum and university representatives from altogether 66 universities inside and outside Beijing such as Peking University, Fudan University and the heads of 15 towns. CUEB Deputy Party Secretary Sun Shanxue chaired the forum.
