On December 19th, CUEB President Fu Zhifeng met with ElsaeElkati, president of Benha University of Egypt, in the Hechang Hall. The two sides held talks on international student education and building Confucius Institutes, and signed a MoUon inter-university cooperation.

On behalf of CUEB, President Fu Zhifeng welcomed the visit of ElsaeElkati and the delegation of Benha University. He mentioned that both China and Egypt were ancient civilizations of the world and hoped that both sides would not only carry out win-win cooperation through platforms of personnel training, scientific research, social services and so on, but also strengthen cultural communication through jointly-built Confucius Institutes under the guidance of the "Belt and Road Initiative."

Vice President Xu Fang introduced CUEB's history and international communication achievements. She mentioned that the university was established in 1956, and it was a Beijing municipal key university. In recent years, the school has attached great importance to the internationalization of education, and has established cooperative relations with 110 colleges and universities in 24 countries and regions. Since Egypt was an important country along the route of Chinese "Belt and Road Initiative", she hoped the two sides could strengthen communication and understanding, and actively explore the potential of exchanges and cooperation.

Elsae Elkati expressed gratitude to CUEB for its hospitality, and introduced the history and current situation of the Benha University. He said that Benha University was established in 1911 and was a comprehensive university under the Ministry of Higher Education and Research. As a member of the University Alliance of the NewSilk Road, Benha University hasextensive cooperation with Chinese universities. He hoped that Benha University would carry out further cooperation with CUEB in areas like economics, Arabic and Chinese education.

Afterwards, they watched the English promotion video of CUEB anddiscussed specific issues in cooperation and the establishment of Confucius Institutes. Fu Zhifeng and ElsaeElkatithen signed a MoUon Inter-University Cooperation and exchanged souvenirs.
