The Party branch of CUEB Department of Auditing at the School of Accounting was honored with the title of “National Model Branch in Party Building” in the fourth round of evaluations on Party building in universities in the new era by the General Office of Ministry of Education.

In recent years, guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, CUEB Party committee has implemented the principles outlined in the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. It has also carried out General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important directives regarding Party building, adhering to the Party’s general requirements and the organizational line for the new era. The school Party committee has always prioritized model Party member cultivation and model Party branch establishment following the requirements in Party building.

Under the guidance of CUEB Party committee, the Party committee of the School of Accounting has been steadfast in enhancing its political and organizational roles in the Party building in universities in the new era. It has promoted the in-depth integration of Party building and education endeavors, thereby forming a distinctive and exemplary Party-building model featuring systematic Party member education, management, and supervision, being active in organizing, disseminating, gathering, and serving school members.

Established in 2014, the teachers’ Party branch of the Department of Auditing at the School of Accounting (hereafter the Party branch) comprises 10 Party members who are all frontline teachers. Among them, 9 hold doctor’s degrees, and 1 holds a master’s degree. The branch is a team with firm beliefs, profound educational convictions, sound academic structures, outstanding capabilities, and prominent exemplary roles. Furthermore, the Party branch has shouldered responsibilities for faculty members outlined in the Regulations of the Communist Party of China on the Work of Primary Organizations in Regular Colleges and Universities. It has established a sound Party building system, promoted the cultivation of “leading figures in Party building and academic research”, and focused on the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, and led curriculum construction, major development, personnel cultivation, and ethical conduct with Party building. This has enhanced the unity and efficacy of the Party branch, enabling it to fulfill its political and organizational functions. Over the past three years, the Party branch has integrated ideological education into teaching and research, leveraging the ripple effects of curriculum-based ideological and political education, and deepening the integration of Party building and education. As a result, it has garnered multiple national and provincial-level honors and projects.

In 2020, the Party branch was awarded the title of Advanced Grassroots Party Branch at the university level and won the first prize in the university-level Party building innovation project. Three members of the branch have received national-, provincial- and ministerial-level awards or honorary titles, and three others have been named outstanding Party workers and outstanding Party members at the university level. Additionally, one was commended for the service during the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Branch members have been awarded titles such as National Advanced Worker in the Education System, Outstanding Lecturer in Specialized Courses (Public Courses) in Beijing Municipal Universities and Colleges, Special Grade Teacher in Beijing Municipal Universities and Colleges, and Outstanding Instructor in National University Student Competitions. They have also achieved recognition in competitions such as the Second Prize in the Beijing Municipal Young Teachers’ Basic Teaching Skills Competition, the Second Prize in the “Most Beautiful Classroom” Competition in Beijing Municipal Universities and Colleges, and the Outstanding Award in the Second Beijing Municipal Universities and Colleges Teacher Teaching Innovation Competition.

The Party branch plays a leading and supportive role in Party building, effectively rallying faculty and students, and integrating Party building with teaching and research, advancing the development of the discipline. In terms of teaching, in 2019, the textbook Auditing, compiled by teachers from the branch, was awarded the title of Beijing Municipal Excellent Textbook. The course “Auditing” based on this book was honored as Excellent Course in Beijing in 2020, Exemplary Course in Ideological and Political Education by the Ministry of Education in 2021, and selected as a National First-class Undergraduate Course (offline) in 2023. The teaching plans of the course were included in the “High-quality Undergraduate Teaching Plans” in Beijing in 2022. The teaching team and teachers were recognized as demonstration teaching teams and distinguished teachers in ideological and political education in 2021. In terms of research, teachers from this branch have been approved for national- and provincial-level research projects and authored monographs, papers, and other publications related to important socio-economic issues such as national auditing, governance of state-owned enterprises, high-quality economic development, and governance of capital markets, receiving praise and recognition from relevant experts.

The Party branch, focusing on the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, has made efforts to strengthen students’ knowledge of the major and occupation, and deepen the collaboration of Party branches between teachers and students. Based on the original pioneer project of Party members, student Party members are organized to carry out activities effectively through platforms such as the zero-distance learning academic counseling studio, the individual counseling and guidance studio, and others. The Party branch provides comprehensive guidance and training to students in morality, intelligence, physical health, aesthetics, and labor. Teachers from this department guide students to intern at the Big Four accounting firms (Deloitte, EY, KPMG, and PwC). Notably, the Grade 2013 and 2016 Accounting (CPA Specialization), along with Class 3 of Grade 2019 Accounting (CPA Specialization), have been awarded the “Vibrant Youth League Branch” by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China. These initiatives effectively improve students’ expertise and competitiveness in the job market.

The Party branch will seize this opportunity and persist in adhering to the fundamental principle of fostering virtue through education. It will fully leverage the Party branch’s stronghold position and the exemplary role of Party member teachers, with a keen focus on professional characteristics. It will promote the integration of Party building and education work, and fully demonstrate the vigorous spirit of educators in the new era.

CUEB Party committee will implement the development objective set forth by the CUEB’s Fifth Party Congress, and lead high-quality development with high-quality Party building. More focus would be put on grassroots Party organizations to promote organizational effectiveness at all levels and guarantee the high-quality development of CUEB.
