Professor He Feng Named IREF Editor-in-Chief: First Chinese Mainland Scholar to Hold the Position

Recently, Professor He Feng from the School of Finance of CUEB was appointed to be the Editor-in-Chief of International Review of Economics & Finance (IREF), as shown in the official website of Elsevier. This marks the first time since the journal’s inception that a scholar from Mainland China has held this position.

The appointment of Professor He is a testament to both his academic performance and to a more international CUEB image as well as our better discipline construction in recent years. At the same time, it showcased China’s enhanced academic research strength and international discourse in the field of economics and finance, encouraging high-quality research on China’s financial sector and effectively sharing China’s financial insights and stories on the global stage. CUEB will continue to leverage its disciplinary strengths to promote more original research findings globally, thereby contributing Chinese wisdom to the development of economics and finance globally.

IREF, founded in 1991 and published by Elsevier, is a well-known international academic journal. With a latest Impact Factor of 4.8, the journal is ranked in the SSCI Finance Q1 category. Dedicated to the publication of theoretical and empirical articles in various fields such as international economics, macroeconomics and financial economics, this journal aims at strengthening exchanges between academic community and participants in economic and financial markets, and deepening integration of academic research and practical application.

He Feng, Ph.D. in Management and Economics, is a professor at the School of Finance and a doctoral advisor. He is also the Deputy Director of the Office of Research at CUEB, and the Director of the Climate Finance Research Center at the China ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Institute. His research mainly involves green finance and ESG, climate finance, digital economy, corporate finance, derivatives and risk management. He was selected as the top 2% of global leading scientists listed by Stanford University (2024). He has published over 80 articles in high-level Chinese and international journals, over ten ESI highly-cited papers. He has led numerous projects, such as youth and general projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, general projects funded by the National Social Science Fund, and Think Tank project of the China Association for Science and Technology.
