CUEB Holds Forum for Young Teachers
On March 6th, CUEB held a forum for young teachers. President Fu Zhifeng, Vice President Wang Chuansheng and heads of related departments of CUEB met with representatives of young teachers. Issues discussed during the forum were concerned with reform on pay, evaluation of professional titles and discipline improvement.
Before the forum, President Fu emphasized that as a main force in faculty, young teachers play a significant role in leading the university’s reform and development. Fu also noted that CUEB leadership has been thinking highly of young teachers and hoped they could feel free to express what’s on their minds and offer proper advice for the university.
During the conference, someone suggested that increasing salary is an effective way to motivate teachers. Salary reform should aim at the fairness inside and competitiveness outside as a way to ensure that teachers are satisfied with their payment by structuring a reasonable evaluation system. Some also said that the burdens on young teachers are heavy both at work and in life. Therefore, an optimized distribution of resources was needed to encourage young teachers to pay more attention to their teaching and scientific researches. Some suggestions were also given that considering the great individual differences among young teachers, the university should improve the teaching assessment system, thus encouraging teachers to add what they can in their specialized areas. Also suggested was the building of an improved research cooperation platform, which was expected to offer more opportunities for young teachers to study abroad.
The teachers attending the meeting also enumerated the achievements CUEB had made in recent years and shared their experience since their first day at CUEB. President Fu noted all down carefully as he listened. Fu also took questions from the teachers and urged related departments to discuss and solve problems concerned as soon as they can. Fu pointed out that guided by the principle of “more pay for more work, better pay for better work”, we would carry out reform on the salary system for full-time teachers, adjust major setting and make the discipline distribution more rational, in a bid to provide solid support for teachers. Fu Zhifeng hoped that all teachers, especially young teachers, would make great efforts in the future reform and development of the university and make greater contributions to the establishment of China’s first-class and worldly-renowned university of finance and economics as they gain personal accomplishment.
