CUEB School of Labor Economics Cooperates with Rutgers University on Joint Degree Program
On March 25th, an interview was conducted in Room 230, Bona Building. The interview aimed to select students for 3+1+1 Bachelor’s-Master’s Program developed by the School of Management and Labor Relations of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey (RU) and the School of Labor Economics of CUEB. Prof. Liu Mingwei from RU and Fan Wei, the vice Dean of School of Labor Economics from CUEB attended the interview and briefed the students on program advantages and where they are in.
Liu Mingwei introduced the program requirements, curriculum, credit accumulation and application procedure. In parallel with listening to the English presentation of the candidates, Liu evaluated them by their academic performance, hobbies, and ability of learning language.
After the interview, Fan Wei detailed what students concern: tuition, premium, internship and the practice. He encouraged the eligible students to seize the opportunity which would fuel their personal development by making them talents with broader world view, intercultural awareness, and solid academic foundation.
In recent years, the School of Labor Economics of CUEB has been active in promoting the international mode to education in a bid to provide broader horizon for students as well as chances for common development. Big progress was made in building an international exchange program system that contains long-term degree programs with short-term exchange programs.
RU is the largest institution of higher education in New Jersey of the U.S. It is one of the 62 members of Association of America Universities (AAU), an academic association composed of leading universities in the North America. It is also a member of the Big Ten Conference. On December 19th, 2018, the School of Labor Economics signed the 3+1+1 agreement with RU aiming to accelerate the building of disciplines and majors for both. Adrienne Eaton, dean of the School of Management and Labor Relations of RU, Prof. Liu Mingwei, and Feng Xiliang, Dean of the School of Labor Economics of CUEB attended the signing ceremony.
This program is the first cooperation between the two universities on conferring bachelor and master degrees. According to the 3+1+1 Bachelor-Master Program, applicants with a bachelor degree are guaranteed a seat in the RU for two years (one year for undergraduate exchange and one year for postgraduate study). RU’s master degree— Master of Human Resource Management (HRM) or Master of Labor and Employment Relations— is conferred upon successful completion of all courses and thesis defense.
