On May 28th, the 15th Commendation Ceremony for Beijing’s Outstanding Achievements in Philosophy and Social Science was held. Du Feijin, member of the standing committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Minister of Publicity Department of Beijing Committee of the CPC attended the meeting and delivered an important speech. Zhao Weidong, Executive Vice Minister of Publicity Department presided over the meeting. Among 208 excellence awards, 6 were from CUEB, including 1 first prize and 5 second prizes, leading the rest of Beijing municipal colleges and universities. Yao Dongxu, Director of the Scientific Research Office, Professor Xie Haixia from the Law School and Associate Professor Li Houyi from the School of Marxism attended the ceremony.

Approved by Beijing Committee of the Communist Party of China and the People’s Government of Beijing’s Municipality, the Award for Outstanding Achievements in Beijing's Philosophy and Social Sciences was established in 1987 and has been carried out for 15 times . As the capital’s best-renowned and authoritative award in social science, it has great social impact and ability to motivate and guide the public. The well-considered assessment that socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era was put forward in the 19th National Congress. Since then, rapid progress has been made in building socialism with Chinese characteristics, calling for various improvements in philosophy and social sciences. More theories on social science are in badly need to guide social practices. The studies of philosophy and social sciences must be up-to-date and pragmatic so as to mirror and cherish the moral excellence of the times. Our university is always committed to the economic and social development of the capital city with our wisdom and power. The winners of the prizes, with their perseverance and diligence in academic research, set good examples for all staff members of CUEB in their endeavors to overcome all difficulties to serve the capital city and make scientific research.

In recent years, all teaching staff have jointed efforts to push forward the scientific research of CUEB and big progress has been made in this regard. Owing to the efforts of the motivated teachers, various typical achievements in both basic theories and practical strategies keep coming up, making CUEB more capable in serving our country and the capital. Inspired by the award, we are determined to make greater achievements by continuously promoting all scientific researches.
