On May 24th, CUEB President Fu Zhifeng met with delegation from China Railway Group Limited (CREC) led by Vice President Liu Baolong in Bona Building. The two sides agreed on some of the CUEB graduates being listed as CREC’s employees upon their graduation.

At first, Fu Zhifeng extended his warm welcome to Liu Baolong and his delegation. In his introduction to the situation of CUEB, Fu highlighted the orientation and talent cultivation model of Safety Engineering. Fu also noted that CUEB has, by pulling together the resources of the School of Safety and Environmental Engineering and the School of Information, founded the School of Management Engineering as part of the university’s efforts to further develop Safety Engineering under the new circumstances. He hoped that the new school could distinguish itself in building disciplines and graduating students, preparing more high-quality graduates for enterprises and the society.

Then, Liu Baolong said that CREC’s trip to CUEB was to know the university’s characteristic and the development of related disciplines, and exchange ideas on future cooperation. He also added that recent years have seen closer ties between CREC and CUEB in the production safety of construction work, hoping that more CUEB students from Safety Engineering and beyond can work with CREC. In addition, Liu Baolong introduced the training session for senior managers conducted by CUEB concerning production safety. Liu noted that the Safety Research Center, established by the School of Management Engineering entrusted by CREC, was designed to ensure production safety in construction work in the new era. In order to raise the awareness of safety management for the “vital few”, the Safety Research Center conducted a week-long training session for 66 CREC staff including Deputy Directors and Chief Safety Officers from Engineering Groups, Investment Groups and Project Management Offices under CREC’s umbrella. Liu Baolong expressed his satisfaction and recognition to the training in terms of the quality of its planning, teachers and teaching, the result of inspection and the desirable service. At last, Liu hoped that the two sides could continue to work together and deepen industry-university cooperation, contributing to the improvement of China’s production safety in construction work.

Li Fengchao, Chief Safety Officer of CREC, Wang Guangzhong (representative of the trainee), General Manager of China Railway No.2 Group Co. Ltd, and Zhang Jun, Dean of the School of Management Engineering attended the meeting.
