On the afternoon of June 14th, Ding Lihong and his delegation were invited to visit the garbage disposal site in Da Shengzhuang Village, Xi Hongmen Town, Daxing District, Beijing. The project was launched by Zhang Zhiqiang, alumnus of the class of 1986 of Commerce Economics and Pang Yu, on-the-job graduate student of the class of 2002. The delegation members included Ding Lihong, Vice President of CUEB, Zhao Xiling, Director of the Office of Cooperation Affairs, Vice President and Secretary-General of CUEB Alumni Association, Wang Lei, Vice President and legal representative of CUEB Alumni Association, Pan Aimin, President of Tianjin Alumni Association and alumnus of class of 1999 of Accounting major, and Li Haoyi, Director of the preparatory group of the American alumni association, alumnus of the class of 1989 of Safety Engineering major.

Together with their team, Zhang Zhiqiang and Pang Yu have been dedicated to waste disposal since 2010, working hard to start their own business. Over the past nine years, the alumni team has developed a set of relatively proven equipment supported by various technologies which were patented. Da Shengzhuang Village was the first site where their pyrolysis gasification technology was applied to deal with household waste.

In the workshop of the processing center, Zhang and Pang introduced and demonstrated to the visitors how the equipment works by putting waste into the machine. With the patented technology, the device produces a small amount of residue after cracking the garbage into combustible gas to be burnt and disposed. The combustible gas can also be processed into new energy. The hazard-free treatment made possible the reduction of garbage.

As the project started, Ding Lihong expressed his congratulation to the alumni team and praised them for their contribution to people’s livelihood, heeding to the government’s call. Ding Lihong gave Zhang some advice on IPR and other issues. The alumni talked to Zhang and Pang with great interest, expecting for more cooperation..

After the visit, Li Wujiang, Secretary of the village invited Ding Lihong, Zhao Xiling and Wang Lei to a meeting, and introduced the dramatic changes of the village through years of reconstruction and talked about what he has learnt in managing the village. Ding Lihong expressed his appreciation for Li’s ideas and extended a sincere invitation to him to share experiencewith Shangkou Village and Hou Taowa Village, the poverty-stricken areas assisted by CUEB.
