This is the eleventh time for the Education Work Committee of Beijing Municipal Committee, Beijing Municipal Education Commission, Beijing Municipal Teachers’ Union, together with the Higher Education Institutions Teacher Online Training Center of the Ministry of Education of China to hold Beijing Teaching Competition for Yong University Teachers, with its philosophy being “deliver the best-possible course”. This year, prizes of five categories—human science, social science, ideological & political theory, science, engineering and medicine—were up for grabs and the judges graded candidates by their teaching plan, presentations and self-examinations.

Prior to the Competition, a simulation competition was held for young teachers in CUEB on the basis of the competition in all schools as a way to get candidates well prepared. Through the preliminary, first prize winners Wei Qingpo and Wang Maolin, second prize winner Zhang Wei, and Lian Huan, winner of the tenth Beijing University Teachers’ Basic Skills Competition on Ideological & Political Theory Course were qualified to participate in Beijing Teaching Competition for Yong University Teachers.

Since the schools’ leadership put premium on the Competition, a panel was set to offer professional instruction, model classes and specialized lectures to help the four teachers in preparing and polishing their works, which included five teaching plans and presentations of deliberately-selected courses. During the competition, four courses delivered by CUEB teachers, namely Wei Qingpo’s International Law, Wang Maolin’s Auditing, Zhang Wei’s Advanced Spoken English and Lian Huan’s Ideological and Moral Education & Fundamentals of Law, showed their excellent teaching skills and abilities. Also, the contents highlighted the idea of fostering virtue through education and the requirement of ideological and political work. The fluent expression, natural and poised manner, upbeat spirit and the engaging atmosphere gave full play to the charm of CUEB teachers.
