School of Law of CUEB Admitted to ASLI

On October 25th, the Asian Law Institute (ASLI) sent a letter confirming that the school of Law of CUEB has been approved by ASLI council and become a member of ASLI officially. The access to ASLI provides a valuable opportunity for teachers and students of CUEB to participate in the top comprehensive law conferences in Asia (ASLI annual conference) as well as an opportunity to apply for ASLI research fund, which marks an important step for the School of Law to promote its education quality and the international reputation of CUEB. Taking this opportunity, the School of Law will further deepen the scientific researches and academic exchanges and talents cultivation with other law schools in the Asia-Pacific region and make new contributions to the vigorous development of China’s rule of law.

ASLI was established in 2003 through the efforts of several leading Asian law schools to foster Asian legal scholarship and to facilitate greater interaction amongst legal scholars in Asia as well as legal scholars outside Asia working on Asian law. ASLI has sixteen founding member schools that are among the very top law schools in Asia, which included National University of Singapore, Faculty of Law, Peking University Law School, The University of Hong Kong, Faculty of Law, etc. Since founding, ASLI developed rapidly. There are more than 100 Asian Schools of Laws in ASLI. In China, besides Peking University and the University of Hong Kong, a total of 12 School of Laws attended ASLI, including Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL), Xiamen University, University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), East China University of Political Science and Law, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and so on. Other members included world-renowned schools like the University of Tokyo (Japan), the Korea University (South Korea), the University of Philippines (Philippines), the Australian National University (Australia), the University of British Columbia (Canada), the University of Wisconsin (the United States) and the State University of Moscow (Russia).

 

The Secretariat of ASLI is located at Faculty of Law of the National University of Singapore. ASLI aims to promote the development of legal academic research and legal education in Asia and the whole Asia-Pacific region. It has become one of the most influential legal academic communication platforms in the world and has effectively promoted the cooperation, exchanges and development of legal education research in the Asia-Pacific region under the background of globalization.
