On September 25^th, the 21^st National Almanac Book Annual Meeting (2020), sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and jointly organized by Social Sciences Academic Press (China), was held in Kunming, Yunnan. A total of 419 books were selected and evaluated by the Fifth Academic Committee of the Almanac Book. After initial evaluation, re-evaluation, qualification examination and other links, 10 books won the prize of the 11^th “Excellent Almanac Book Award”. CUEB Blue Book of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region (2019): Build an Innovative New Engine to Drive Economic Growth won the first prize of the 11^th “Excellent Almanac Book Award”. Niu Qingshan, Vice Chairman of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of the Beijing Federation of Social Science Circles, presented awards to CUEB Blue Book of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region. At the same time, Professor Ye Tanglin, Executive Deputy Dean of the Megacity Economic and Social Development Research Institute was recruited as senior researcher of Social Science Academic Press Pishu Institute and attended the 2^nd Pishu Institute Board of Directors and Advisors. Rong Dali, Vice President and member of the Party Leadership Group of Beijing City Federation of Social Science Circles as well as the Vice Director of Office of Social Science Planning delivered keynote speech. Professor Xu Fang, Deputy Secretary of CUEB Party Committee, attended this annual meeting and addressed the parallel forum.

The 21^st National Almanac Book Annual Meeting (2020) was sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and jointly organized by Social Sciences Academic Press (China) and Yunnan University. Zhao Qi, Secretary-General of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and member of the Party Leadership Group, Niu Qingshan, Vice Chairman of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of the Beijing Federation of Social Science Circles, Yang Zhengquan, Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of Yunnan Provincial CPC Committee, and Dean of the Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences, Xie Shou Guang, President of Social Sciences Academic Press (China), Wang Zihao, Deputy Director of the Bureau of Scientific Research Management of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Xu Chunsheng, Deputy Director of the National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences, Wang Weiheng, a secondary researcher of the Publishing Bureau of Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, and Li Chenyang, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Executive Vice President of Yunnan University, attended the meeting. The opening ceremony of the meeting was presided over by Yang Qun, Editor-in-chief of Social Sciences Academic Press. This meeting was launched with the theme of “Almanac Book in the New Era: Research and Innovation, Publication and Publicity”. Nearly 500 people from relevant institutions of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, local Academies of Social Sciences, universities, scientific research institutes, social think tanks and other institutions, National Almanac Book research teams, experts in related fields, and media representatives attended the meeting to discuss how the Almanac Book can further exert its function and value in the new era.

Niu Qingshan, Vice Chairman of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of the Beijing Federation of Social Science Circles, presided over the related symposium, delivered keynote speech, and affirmed the achievements of the CUEB Blue Book of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region. Niu Qingshan pointed out that the research and innovation of the Almanac Book is people-oriented. We must faithfully implement Marxist theory about practice and theory, stay true to reality, and avoid one-sided and simplistic understanding. The continuity, practicality, and documentation of the Almanac Book well reflect the combination of theory and practice, and its foothold is seeking truth from facts and the unity of knowledge and action. The Almanac Book has played an important role in giving advice to the government and cultivating talents. Without continuous research and in-depth practice, no masterpieces can be produced. The field of social sciences in Beijing should do better in the research and innovation of the Almanac Book, combining it with the research achievements, talent training, and discipline construction. Professor Xu Fang, Deputy Secretary of CUEB Party Committee, and Professor Ye Tanglin of the Megacity Economic and Social Development Research Institute made speeches.

The Megacity Economic and Social Development Research Institute of CUEB, in conjunction with Tehua Postdoctoral Programme and the Economic and Management Branch of Social Sciences Academic Press, jointly organized the 21^st National Almanac Book Annual Meeting (2020) Parallel Forum themed as “Mission and Influence of Think Tank in Regional Coordinated Development”. The Parallel Forum was addressed by Professor Xu Fang, Deputy Secretary of CUEB Party Committee, and Professor Ye Tanglin gave a keynote speech on the topic of “A Few Experiences in Improving the Influence of the Regional Blue Book”. Liu Jun, Deputy Director of the Think Tank Work Department of the Beijing Federation of Social Science Circles, gave a keynote speech on the topic of “Almanac Book: Innovate the Scientific Management and Improve the Quality of Research Results”. The forum themed as “Mission and Influence of Think Tank in Regional Coordinated Development” scored the highest among the 10 sub-forums (94.05 points), winning the Outstanding Parallel Forum of the 21^st National Almanac Book Annual Meeting (2020).
