To celebrate the 71^st anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, carrying on the legacy of the martyrs, carrying forward the fine traditions, passing on the traditions of revolution, and strengthening our ideals and beliefs, the Office of Student Affairs and the Armed Force Department on September 30 and October 1, organized teachers and students’ representatives to hold the flag-raising ceremony themed as “Taking Responsibility and Striving for Future” in CUEB Square. Feng Pei, Party Secretary Ma Li, Director of the Office of Student and the Chief of Armed Forces, Feng Junpeng, Vice Director, college counselors, students of Grade 2020 and representatives of Student Party member attended the ceremony, which was presided over by Gulzipa, a teacher in Students’ Affairs Division.

At 7 o’clock, the teachers and students gathered in the square for the activity. The national flag group, made up of members of the national flag guard team of CUEB, marched with sonorous steps to the flower bed in the center of the square. Under everyone’s gaze, the bright-colored Flag of the People’s Republic of China rose slowly while the patriotic feelings of the teachers and students also came into their mind.

To further enhance students’ sense of mission and responsibility, the discharged soldier as well as student representative of Overseas Chinese College, Shu Mingxian, delivered a speech. As a student who has served in the military, he told the students his story about participating in the training for 70th National Day military parade ceremony, epidemic prevention and control, flood prevention and control, and other tasks. He deeply felt that college students, as the reserve force of the country, should shoulder the mission of the new era for construction of the motherland. He issued an initiative to his classmates that life needs struggling, the country needs ambitious young people to make their commitment to the cause of our motherland. We must live up to the age and work hard, leaving warm, lasting and regretless memories of youth.

As teacher’s representative, Gulizipa and Tao Zhengyu recited the poem “Taking Responsibility and Striving for Future” under the national flag. Under the sounding melody, the teachers expressed their love for the motherland, and at the same time made an oath on behalf of the young people: in the new era, we should struggle unremittingly and live up to the youth; in the new journey, we should work hard and defy the storm.

The teachers and students who took part in the flag-raising ceremony solemnly swore under the national flag that they would resolutely obey the leadership of the party, be loyal to the country, uphold honor, carry forward the legacy of the martyrs, the fine traditions and the Revolutionary Spirit, study diligently, pursue the truth, strive to be honest and trustworthy and set high standards for ourselves, taking responsibility and striving for future.

After the flag-raising ceremony, students were deeply touched. As students in the new era, they should inherit and carry forward the glorious traditions of their forefathers and have the courage to shoulder the historical responsibilities of our generation, strive unremittingly for the prosperity of the great motherland.
