On December 14th, CUEB held the review and defense meeting of 2019-2020 Thematic Party Days and innovative and exceptional projects for Party Building in the Conference Room No.7, Bona Building. Party Secretary Han Xianzhou, Deputy Party Secretary Xu Fang, Member of Party Standing Committee and Director of United Front Work Division Xing Qi, heads of some functional departments of the Party Committee, heads of secondary Party organizations, branch Party Secretaries of students and teachers, and representatives of Party members attended the review meeting. The meeting was presided over by Cui Ying, Deputy Director of the Organization Office of CUEB.

The Organization Office of CUEB carried out the selection of 2019-2020 Thematic Party Days and innovative and exceptional projects for Party Building for the following reasons. First, it is to thoroughly implement the spirit of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth Plenary Session of 19th CPC Central Committee, National Education Conference,  National Conference on Ideological and Political Work in Colleges and Universities, and high-level symposium for teachers of ideological and political theory courses. Second, it is to instill the values of “Two Studies, One Action” initiative in Party members and uphold themed education of “Staying True to Our Founding Mission.” Third, it is to incorporate a focus on reinforcing the Party’s political foundations into the general requirements for strengthening the Party, and make it the primary task in boosting reform and innovation, exemplary projects, quality-driven development in an all-around way and organizational capacity, so as to make exceptional achievements in the new era. CUEB declared 27 Thematic Party Days and 13 innovative and exceptional projects for Party Building. After a preliminary review, a total of 14 Thematic Party Days and 8 innovative and exceptional projects for Party Building were shortlisted for the final review. The judges conducted a comprehensive review of the Party Days and projects that participated in the defense in terms of significance, topic selection, main results and on-site performance. In the end, 2 first prizes, 3 second prizes, 4 third prizes, and 5 honorable prizes were selected for the Thematic Party Days, and 2 first prizes, 3 second prizes, and 3 third prizes and 1 Best Organization Prize for innovative and exceptional projects in Party building. After the review meeting, Han Xianzhou made a concluding speech. He put forward three “focuses”, that is, focusing on the characteristics of Party Building in CUEB, and the integration of Party Building and university development; focusing on the basic and long-term construction of grassroots Party Building, and building exemplary projects, brands and normalized and institutionalized working mechanism by means of effective experience; focusing on guiding CUEBers with Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics and making it an ideological weapon to guide practice and advance work. Then, he put forward three “tasks”. Firstly, CUEB should advance standardized Party Building and give full play to the role of the branch Party Secretaries of teachers in the implementation of ideological and political courses. Secondly, CUEB, at the forefront of moral education, should primarily figure out “how and why cultivate talents” and achieve the comprehensive goal of talent training to ensure all staff education, whole process education and all-round education (also called Three-wide education). Thirdly, CUEB should address problems during the innovative development, and study new models and highlights in the building of grassroots Party.
