Development and Planning Office of BMEC and Universities and Colleges Admissions Office of BEEA Visit CUEB
On April 14, the Development and Planning Office of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission (BMEC) and the Universities and Colleges Admissions Office of the Beijing Education Examination Authority (BEEA) conducted a research tour to CUEB. Li Xiaomu, Vice President of CUEB attended the meeting, while Yao Linxiu, Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of CUEB chaired the meeting.
Li Xiaomu extended a warm welcome and sincere gratitude to the leaders from BMEC and BEEA, acknowledging their substantial support for CUEB’s enrollment efforts. Li highlighted the fundamental role of enrollment in the ongoing personnel cultivation reform. In recent years, CUEB has launched numerous measures in the reform of personnel cultivation. With a new round of undergraduate education evaluation scheduled in this May, all sectors of CUEB are pooling their strengths to promote both enrollment and personnel cultivation to new heights in the upcoming evaluation.
Yao Linxiu also warmly welcomed and expressed deep appreciation to BMEC and BEEA for their visit, recognizing their guidance and long-term support for the school’s development. Yao emphasized that as a Beijing Municipal high-level research university, CUEB provides good opportunities and environment to students. In recent years, the university has increased funding to enhance students’ academic and residential environments, including constructing smart classrooms, upgrading dormitory facilities, and beautifying the campus, all contributing to a more comfortable learning and living atmosphere for students.
Sun Yunke, Director of the Universities and Colleges Admissions Office of BEEA, sincerely thanked CUEB for its unwavering support. He highlighted CUEB’s leading position among municipal universities, noting its status as the most preferred choice among Beijing students with the highest enrollment rates. Sun commended CUEB’s coordinated approach across different apartments to personnel cultivation, citing the recent “Greening for Growth” Arbor Day activity as exemplifying the school’s important initiatives in labor and environmental education. He affirmed BEEA’s decication to serving both the community and universities, serving as a vital link among citizens, local districts, and universities.
Liu Zhuanlin, Cui Jing, and Jia Fangjian, Deputy Directors of the Development and Planning Office of BMEC, addressed the challenges faced by CUEB in its enrollment processes. They said that as the student population in Beijing is projected to continue growing over the next decade, city leaders at all levels are deeply concerned about providing sufficient educational opportunities. They emphasized CUEB’s pivotal role in not only ensuring access to higher education for Beijing’s students but also delivering quality education. The Development and Planning Office of BMEC will enhance its coordination between universities and district education commissions to improve support services.
Liu Qiang, Director of the Academic Affairs Office, gave a comprehensive introduction to CUEB’s personnel cultivation. He proposed that following a significant leadership adjustment last year, CUEB has entered a critical and opportune phase of development. The university has excelled in building national first-class majors, with a high proportion of these programs and enrollment figures, particularly in finance and economics. The “Three Types and One Standard” personnel cultivation model (cultivating applied, versatile, innovative, and international personnel) has yielded remarkable results over the years, with the recent launch of Version 2.0 further enhancing outcomes. Furthermore, the transformation into a digitally intelligent academic environment is progressing smoothly, with ongoing enhancements in digital infrastructure. CUEB worked for the smooth operation of majors through effective monitoring, early warnings, and evidence-based adjustments, ensuring that adjustments were data-driven and aligned with evolving needs.
Meng Yifang, Director of the Admissions Office, reviewed the undergraduate enrollment for 2023 and outlined the admissions work for 2024. CUEB increased its undergraduate enrollment target by 300 students compared to 2022, with higher admission scores and improved student percentiles, indicating a rise in the quality of admitted students. Furthermore, CUEB has enhanced its academic programs by implementing a major monitoring, early warning, and exit system, launching pilot programs in digital intelligence, and developing micro-credentials in specialized fields. The school has also improved its distinctive classes and promoted the integration of “admission-training-employment”. To further expand its outreach, CUEB has strengthened partnerships with top high schools and established a collaborative admissions publicity team. All these efforts have significantly advanced CUEB’s enrollment and development.
Also present at the meeting were three Deputy Directors: Wang Jing, Wang Xiaodong, and Sun Lihui. Other attendees included staff from the Universities and Colleges Admissions Office of BEEA, as well as from the Development and Planning Office of BMEC.
