On June 2, a keynote lecture entitled “Staying true to original aspirations and founding missions, studying Party’s history and following their path” was held by Organization Department and Publicity Department of CUEB Party Committee.This lecture aims at helping Party members, including both teachers and students, gain wisdom and strength from history of the Communist Party of China, so as to cultivate firm conviction, commitment and confidence, and fulfill the Party's original aspiration and founding mission. Guo Mingyi, alternate member of the 19th CPC Central Committee and Vice President of All-China Federation of Trade Unions, was invited to give a keynote lecture. CUEB President Fu Zhifeng, Vice President and members of standing committee of CUEB Party Committee Sun Haozhe and Wang Yonggui, member of standing committee of CUEB Party Committee and Secretary of Discipline Inspection Commission Chen Caiqun, and members of Qinghai Branch of Guo Mingyi Assistance Team were present. Wang Yonggui presided over the lecture. 

In his speech, President Fu Zhifeng firstly extended sincere welcome and gratitude to Guo Mingyi and his team members. Fu pointed out that CUEB faculties and students should learn more about Guo’s virtue as he has been playing a leading exemplary role as a Party member in consistently helping people in daily life and carrying forward the spirit of Lei Feng (a late CPC party member devoting most of his short life to helping others selflessly). Fu urged all to learn from Guo by hammering away at all tasks of CUEB until achieving our high-quality development as part of the country’s “Two Centenary Goals”.

In the lecture, Guo Mingyi started his impassioned speech with a song My Motherland and I, and finished it with a song Entering a New Era. Then, with touching stories and classic revolutionary songs, Guo led all attendees to recall and reflect Chinese President Xi Jinping’s remarks by tracing his inspection steps from Shanghai, Jiaxing, Hangzhou Province to Xiang River, from Chenzhou, Hunan Province to Fuping, Hebei Province. In retrospect, present faculties and students recognized martyrs’ heroic spirit and the CPC’s hard work in the past century by revisiting those revolutionary shrines. Guo emphasized that faculties and students must stay committed to their original aspirations and founding missions. It means that we need to learn our predecessors’ spirit while treasuring the solid foundation they fought for, prioritize people and infuse our personal dreams into the surging current of the age, so as to contribute to the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation. He pointed out that today we should equip ourselves with the action-oriented, up to date and innovative Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era to guide practices in work and then make new development advances. Along with a song Stepping into A New Era, Guo ended the lecture with bursts of applause. Finally, Guo Mingyi answered students’ questions and presented them with books.

Wang Yonggui noted that Guo Mingyi’s report of Li Dazhao, Fang Zhimin and other predecessors’ heroic deeds，as well as the spirit demonstrated in the Long March, the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, and the development of Two Bombs and One Satellite conveyed CPC members’ firm faith in Marxism and commitment to realizing prosperity and rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Further, he expressed his hope for CUEB members to inherit revolutionary traditions in current times.

Later, Party Committee of School of Economics invited Guo Mingyi and four members from Guo Mingyi Assistance Team’s Qinghai Branch including Shi Lei, Zhang Xuefeng, Li Zhong and Wang Youju to participate in the forum named “Knocking on History Doors and maintaining the brave spirit of the revolutionaries.”. At the forum, Guo Mingyi and Party Secretary of School of Economics Xie Xiaojuan unveiled and presented the nameplate of “Jingrui” Exemplary Youth Team, and the five guests were invited to take the posts of Honorary Advisor of the Youth Team. The School of Economics and the Assistance Team reached a cooperative intention on college ideological and political education, rural vitalization, poverty alleviation and CPC organization establishment and they signed relevant framework agreement. Moving forward, the two sides will conduct various cooperation as ways to carry out Guo Mingyi’s spirit of helping others, so as to cultivate socialist builders and successors with all-round moral, intellectual, physical and aesthetic grounding, in addition to hard-working spirit.
