CUEB Takes Home Honorable Prizes in 11th Beijing Challenge Cup

According to the result recently released by the 11th "Challenge Cup" Beijing Undergraduate Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Contest, CUEB once again made a big success. With 32 works winning the Beijing municipal-level awards, CUEB took home the Honorable Prize and the Best Organization Prize.

 

CUEB recommended 15 works to the contest of Beijing main track, and won 2 first prizes, 5 second prizes, and 8 third prizes.

In order to do a good job in organizing the contest, the Youth League Committee launched the main track selection of 2021 "Challenge Cup" in September 2020, with great attention from CUEB leadership and active cooperation of all departments and colleges. The Youth League Committee also invited more than 20 experts and scholars from inside and outside CUEB to evaluate projects and review thesis reports on 66 works from all schools.

Before the defense of the Special Award, the Youth League Committee organized a rehearsal for 7 listed teams to help them understand the process in advance, master the defense skills, and further improve the materials necessary for the defense, so as to get well prepared for the contest.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. According to the arrangements of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and organizing committee, a special "Red Practice" contest, namely, the contest of practices about CPC revolutionary spirit, was set up outside the main track. It is to guide students to deeply implement the spirit of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the CPC, learn the glorious history of the Party, and strengthen the affective commitment. After recommendation and review of the colleges and the Youth League Committee, CUEB picked 17 works out of 44 to participate in Beijing "Red Practice" contest, and won four kinds of prizes, including 3 special awards, 2 first prizes, 6 second prizes and 6 third prizes.

Hosted by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, China Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, All-China Students’ Federation and local governments, the "Challenge Cup" National Undergraduate Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Contest, initiated by renowned universities across China and the press, is a leading national contest which is exemplary and participatory. The Challenge Cup has made a positive impact on universities and even on the society, winning a reputation as the “Olympics” of scientific innovation for college students.
