On the afternoon of June 9, Han Xianzhou, Party Secretary of CUEB, gave a lecture entitled "Youth in the New Era: Reflection on the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the CPC" for the student Party members of Grade 2018. The lecture was presided over by Wang Jinbao, Director of the Student Affairs Department of the Party Committee.

Secretary Han Xianzhou deeply analyzed China's historical position today. He showed us the great historical achievements made in the past 100 years since the founding of CPC, including the historical facts of the development of Sino-US relations, China's achievements in science and technology and the overall victory in poverty alleviation. Through abundant and sound statistics and vivid examples, Han fully demonstrates that China is still in an important period of strategic opportunities for development. When introducing current world situation, Han pointed out that the fundamental support for Sino-US strategy depends on science, technology, education and youth. Contemporary youth are the new generation who shoulder the responsibility of national rejuvenation. They not only have a bright future, but also bear the great historical mission. The fundamental task of education is to cultivate socialist builders and successors, and to cultivate talents working for socialism with Chinese characteristics for the rest of their lives. Han encouraged student Party members to learn from General Secretary Xi Jinping. Based on President Xi’s great responsibility and concern for the people, as indicated either in his resolution that "I will fully commit to my people and never fail the people", in his passion for the land and the people that "I shall always belong to the land", or in his great leadership in the prevention and control of Covid-19 Pandemic, Han profoundly expounded the mission of CPC and leaders of the people in the new era, which inspired the student Party members’ love for the country and for the CPC. 

Han demonstrated General Secretary Xi Jinping's view of youth. Xi speaks highly of youth in that young people, advancing together with the new era, are lovely, credible and capable. Youth education should firmly grasp the "wheat filling stage" (The filling period is the final formation period of wheat grain yield, which has an important influence on the high yield of wheat.) and "jointing booting stage" (Jointing booting stage refers to the period of rapid growth.), which needs careful guidance and cultivation. The responsibility of the times is entrusted to the youth, and its glory belongs to the youth. The contemporary youth will participate in the whole process to realize the Two Centenary Goals. General Secretary Xi pointed out the direction for youth development. They should fasten the "first button" of life and be brave to shoulder the historical responsibility entrusted by the times. Finally, Han encouraged the student Party members to aim high in the new era and fully understand China's new historical juncture. In this way, students should cultivate firm ideals and convictions, bravely move forward and undertake the responsibilities and missions entrusted by the times.

After the report, Zhao Guang, Director of the Organization Department of the Party Committee, said in his speech that energetic youth make a thriving country, and powerful youth make a powerful country. He called on all student Party members to learn from the General Secretary and strive for the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

It is reported that this report is one of the education activities themed “Pass on the traditions of revolution and fulfill the Party's original aspiration and founding mission” formulated by the Organization Department, the Student Affairs Department and the Graduate Affairs Department of the Party Committee. Taking the centenary of the Party founding as an opportunity, CUEB organized 7 kinds of activities (the number 7 here represents the Founding Day of CPC, that is July 1), including themed lecture, education of honest administration, reading classics and watching movies with revolutionary themes, etc. These activities, carried out every year before the CPC Founding Day, help student Party members to constantly equip their minds with theories and build a solid foundation of ideals and beliefs, so as to take on the responsibility and mission entrusted by the times. These activities can serve as another typical project with revolutionary themes in CUEB and greatly help to carry out the fundamental task of fostering virtue with education.
