Visiting Party members and honoring memorial medals for 50-year Party membership is an important activity to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). It is also a major activity to advance CPC history learning & education and then apply learning to practice. On June 22, on behalf of the Party Committee of CUEB, Party Secretary Han Xianzhou visited retired Party cadre Zhao Guiqing and awarded him a memorial medal for 50-year Party membership. Han also extended sincere greetings and respect to all Party members and cadres.

Zhao Guiqing, 90 years old, has been a Party member for 56 years. He used to serve as the Party Secretary of the Division of Accounting Department in Beijing College of Economics, namely, the predecessor of CUEB. After his retirement, he was elected as the Head of CUEB’s Junior College Department and Vice President of CUEB Miyun Campus for around 20 years. Based on the Party’s fine tradition and conduct and spirit of struggle, Zhao has contributed a lot to CUEB in different posts. In the Party member’s home, Han Xianzhou conferred the memorial medal on Zhao Guiqing and helped him wear it. In their communication, Han showed great concern about the comrade’s daily life and physical condition, and listened to his unforgettable experiences about unswervingly following the Party and devoting all his life to it while recalling the brilliant centenary course of the CPC.

Han Xianzhou said, ahead of the 100th anniversary of founding of CPC, the CPC Central Committee decided to award the memorial medal for the first time. Apart from fully embodying great concern and respect to veteran Party members given by the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping at its core, such a commendation is of great significance to enhance Party members’ sense of honor, belonging and mission, motivate generations of communists to remain resolute and forge ahead, and pool greater strength of the whole Party to realize the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation. Veterans of CUEB are loyal to the Party development with hard work and selfless devotion. The great achievements of CUEB’s reform and development were the result of blood and sweat from all. All Party members should always remember their hard work and historic achievements, and learn advanced and typical conduct and morality, so as to maintain the political character of Communists. Han hoped these veterans can take good care of their health and cherish the honor. Besides, Han also expects them to support CUEB’s development continuously, such as offering suggestions, publicizing the glorious history and fine conduct of the Party, thus concentrating strength to promote development of CUEB.

Zhao Guang, Director of Party Committee’s Organization Department, Li Fenglei, Director of Retirees Affairs Office, and Zhang Yanhua, Secretary of Party Branch of the University Hospital, visited the veteran in companion. In order to further implement the practice of “doing practical things for the mass”, the Retirees Affairs Office and the University Hospital carried out “door-to-door medical service” by providing Zhao with services such as physical examination and consultation.

According to the deployment of the Organization Department of Beijing Municipal CPC Committee on work related to the Founding Day of CPC, CUEB Party Committee will award memorial medals for 50-year Party membership to more than 170 living members who have been Party members for 50 years or more and have consistently fulfilled their roles. Currently, the work has been progressing in an orderly way to ensure that every qualified member can be awarded before July 1. Visiting activities are implemented by the CUEB Party Committee and all community-level Party organizations under the spirit of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee and the Organization Department of Beijing Municipal CPC Committee. These activities emphasize political concern in actively solving problems and difficulties and extensively publicizing the brilliant course and great achievements of the centenary of CPC, in order to send the warmth of the Party to the veterans.

Before “July 1”, CUEB Party Committee will also distribute the second batch of subsidies for Party members with living difficulties in 2021, and ensure that full amounts of subsidies can be delivered to them on time.
