He required that CUEB should carry out in-depth specialized study in accordance with the work arrangement of Party history learning and education and advance the work, including all departments of CUEB according to their post characteristic and practices.
The important speech was inspiring. Teachers and students expressed that they would contribute to the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation with greater morale and enthusiasm, fulfill the fundamental task of fostering character and civic virtue through education, and cultivate a new generation capable of shouldering the mission of national rejuvenation.
Han Xianzhou, Secretary of CUEB Party Committee:I am excited with President Xi’s Speech at a Ceremony Marking the Centenary of the Communist Party of China. The extraordinary 100-year journey of the CPC was inspiring. President Xi said in his speech: “The country is its people; the people are the country. The Party has in the people its roots, its lifeblood, and its source of strength.” Xi stressed the prominent role of young people. “The future belongs to the young people, and our hopes also rest with them.” This is the unique political vision of the proletarian Party and the broad-mindedness of the leader of proletarian Party. The development of the CPC must rely on the sustainment of our revolutionary legacy as well as growth and efforts of young people and young Party members. Colleges and universities in China must continue to take the results of fostering virtue through education as the fundamental standard for testing school work. Cultivating talents for the Party and the state, we must encourage students to live up to the promise of their youth and the expectations of our times, our Party, and our people. We must continue to make more contributions to nurturing socialist builders and successors with an all-round moral, intellectual, physical and aesthetic grounding, in addition to a hard-working spirit so as to fulfill the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
Xu Fang, Vice Secretary of CUEB Party Committee: As a Party member, I am proud of listening to President Xi’s speech. As an education worker, I deeply realize the strong responsibility. President Xi has highly expectations for the young. Colleges and universities in China shoulder great responsibilities on fostering virtue through education and cultivating socialist successors. We must encourage students to be more ambitious, more courageous and confident to become the vanguard for national rejuvenation. Sailing depends on the steersman. The CPC has led Chinese people to extraordinary achievements in the past 100 years. In the next century, we must rally more closely around the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core. We must break the waves and sail out for our journey ahead, advancing with unstoppable momentum toward national rejuvenation.
Prof. Ma Baobin from College of Urban Economics and Public Administration: “Tian'anmen Square was teeming with red flag waving and the speech delivered by Xi Jinping was inspiring and thought-provoking. As a teacher, firstly, I will treasure the great achievements of the revolutionary forefathers, never forget where our happiness comes from, and make greater progress; secondly, I will stay true to the mission and make contributions to national rejuvenation and the well-being of the people; thirdly, I will remember sacred duty as a teacher to foster character and civic virtue through education and nurture the root and soul of the nation.
Professor Liu Xuexin, a member of Jiusan Society and Beijing Municipal CPPCC Committee and the Dean of CUEB’s College of Business Administration: Tthe important speech, delivered by President Xi Jinping, concluded the millennia-long history of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and set a goal for the development of the CPC and China’s future. I was so excited to listen to the speech on the spot. When Xi responded resolutely to unjustified moves by a few countries, I felt so proud and confident with a sense of responsibility. The self-reliant Chinese people and the great CPC created the glorious history together. We must insist on staying true to the original aspiration and founding mission of the Party, and striving for the better future of China.
Professor Yang Chunxue from School of Economics: Seeking happiness for the Chinese people and making rejuvenation for the Chinese nation remained as the aspiration and mission of the CPC and they have been our goals on education for a century. History served as the best textbook. The important speech made by President Xi Jinping told us that the history of CPC is significant to character and civic virtue fostering. During the Revolutionary War, countless Communists and dedicated patriots fought and pressed ahead against the odds to make Chinese people emerge from sufferings and humiliation. During the period when founding the People’s Republic of China (PRC), numbers of Party members outside of the spotlight made great contributions in their posts for years. The glorious history led us to stand firm in our ideals and convictions, inspiring us to resolutely advance along the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
Professor Ding Yun from School of Public Finance and Taxation: This year marks the Centenary of the CPC, and I was so honored to participate in the grand gathering in Tian’anmen Square and listen to the speech by President Xi on the scene. As a teacher and a communist joining in the Party for 48 years, I was so excited. I will bear Xi’s instruction in mind, stay true to our Party’s founding mission and stand firm in our ideals and convictions, and maintain love and loyalty to our Party and our people. As President Xi said, belief in mind brings strength in action. I know well of teachers’ senses of historical responsibility, mission and honor, so I will set an example first and then affect students with noble character, lead them with firm belief and guide them with rich knowledge.
President of School of Law Zhang Shijun: I was so excited to have the chance to participate in the ceremony marking the Centenary of the CPC in Tian’anmen Square and listen to the important speech by President Xi on the spot. Over the past hundred years, our Party remained true to their founding mission with unyielding determination and wholeheartedly striving for the well-being of the Chinese people. In this way, we built a moderately prosperous society and embarked on a new journey. As educators, we need to gain ambition by studying history, and foster character and civic virtue. This means that we must stay true to our mission of building China’s strength in education, and cultivate faithful youth for the great rejuvenation of China.
Party Secretary of Overseas Chinese College Wang Minghui: The important speech delivered by President Xi rendered us deeper understanding of the “three centenary meanings” of the CPC. Today’s ceremony marks our restatement of staying true to CPC’s founding mission and a new beginning of further struggle. President Xi cherished highly expectations for the youth in his speaking. Universities and colleges are to cultivate talents. In order to prepare young people for the cause of the Party and national rejuvenation, we college teachers must draw strength from the Party’s history to forge ahead and bear in mind the mission of fostering character and civic virtue and cultivating talents for the Party and country.
Cheng Linping, Deputy Dean of the School of Marxism Studies: President Xi Jinping's speech was inspiring at a ceremony marking the centenary of the Communist Party of China. The glorious history of 100 years has proved that the CPC is the core of the strong leadership of the Chinese nation. As a teacher of ideological and political theory course, I should combine the education of Party history with the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education so as to practice and implement the mission of the fundamental task with leveraging ideological and political theory courses. We must play a political leading role to encourage the young students to study the history of the CPC and People’s Republic China and love the Party and our country, so as to strengthen their faith, encourage them to work hard and forge ahead.
Lu Meng, Director of the Security Office: It's a great honor for me to represent CUEB to participate in the ceremony marking the centenary of the CPC at the scene to celebrate the Party's birthday with all the Party members across the country. At the ceremony, I was extremely excited and proud to listen to President Xi's speech within the warm atmosphere. Based on the new starting point of the Party's history, as the Secretary of the Party Branch of the Security Office, I should always bear in mind the original mission, focus on the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, give full play to the role of the Party Branches at the grass-roots level as battle fortress, guide teachers and students to establish the overall national security outlook. We must strengthen the safety and stability of CUEB so as to create a harmonious and favorable education environment.
Zhang Yiming, Deputy Director of the Teachers' Affairs Office of CUEB Party Committee: Today, I celebrated the centennial birthday of the CPC as an honorable Party member and listened to President Xi Jinping's speech. As a saying in Xi's poem, “Bitter Sacrifice strengthens bold resolve, which dares to make sun and moon shine in the new skies.” As a Party member, I must always bear in mind the spirit of President Xi Jinping's important speech and the ardent hope for education. We must uphold the spirit of the Party founding, carry out the original mission, live up to people's expectation, cultivate talent for the Party and the state to promote the development of various undertakings. As a result, we can give perfect birthday gifts to the Party and make an important contribution to the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation with our own practical actions.
Shi Mingqi, Manager of the Catering Center: I feel very excited and honored to participate in the ceremony marking the centenary of the CPC in Tian’anmen Square and listen to President Xi Jinping's speech at the scene. I deeply feel the greatness of the CPC and the Chinese nation, and the pride of being a Party member. A strong and prosperous China was hard-earned. Therefore, we must follow the call of President Xi to transform passion and movement into the momentum of struggle, fulfill the mission of fostering virtue through education, better serve teachers and students with our greatest strength and strive for greater glory for the Party and people.
Zhou Congzhou, Deputy Secretary of the Youth League Committee of CUEB: Today, I have the honor of participating in the ceremony marking the centenary of the CPC in Tian’anmen Square, witnessing the great historical moment of the centenary of the Party's founding. As President Xi Jinping said, we are now marching in confident strides toward the second centenary goal of building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects. This is the great honor of the CPC and I am very proud to be a Party member. More than 600 teachers and students of CUEB have undertaken the volunteer service tasks of the Party's Centennial performance and celebration ceremony, and all the CUEBers have successfully completed various tasks. In the future, I will remember the original aspiration of fostering virtue through education, cultivating talents for the Party and for the state, and work with all the teachers and students to fulfill the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
Geng Shaobao, a full-time counselor from School of Labor Economics: We bear the eternal great cause in mind, and the centenary only ushered in the prime of life. It was my honor to witness the ceremony marking the centenary of the CPC. A centenary hardship has formed a great “founding spirit of the Party” and has created today's China and a prosperous age. We should stay true to our original aspirations, shoulder our mission bravely, and continue to work hard! For me, Communist Party members are not only an identity, but also a responsibility and a glorious mission. As a counselor, I will stay true to my original aspiration and mission and act on fostering character and civic virtue. Moreover, I will be a guide to provide real support for students’ growth, so as to make contribution to cultivating socialist builders and successors who are ambitious, strong and determined!
Guo Yifan, a graduate student in Administration Management of the School of Urban Economics and Public Administration: I was lucky to participate in the ceremony. President Xi’s speech deeply inspired me. Xi emphasized the importance of learning Party history to create a bright future. We should remember the glorious journey the Party has traveled over 100 years of struggle. As Party members, we should become pioneers and devotees ahead of the times, and strive to achieve the second centenary goal. Let us make a better future together under the leadership of the Party!
Han Qi, a 2018 undergraduate in marketing of the School of Business Administration: I was very excited to watch the ceremony. From 1921 to 2021, the CPC grew from a little spark to a trend which can kindle a great fire, from the survival and salvation to national rejuvenation. Through generations of thousands of Chinese people’s efforts, we made such great achievements. Xi said that young people in the new era should make their mission to contribute to national rejuvenation and aspire to become more courageous and confident, and assured in their identity as Chinese people. As a college student, I will stay true to the mission and commit myself to fulfilling the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
Living in a prosperous age and shouldering important responsibilities, the faculty and students of CUEB will take the responsibility, actively respond to the call of the Party Central Committee, stay true to our Party’s founding mission and stay firm in our ideals and convictions. Acting on the purpose of the Party, we will always maintain the Party’s close ties with the people, empathize and work with them, stand with them through good times and bad. We will work along the path of new Long March towards the “fostering character and civic virtue”.
Dear CPC, please believe in me, we shall build a great country!
