Zhai Degang, Deputy Secretary of Beijing Municiple Publicity Department and His Team Visit CUEB Press
On December 21, Zhai Degang, Deputy Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Publicity Department, Hu Fang, Deputy Director of Publication Administration, and their team visited the Capital University of Economics and Business Press (hereafter the Press) for business inspection and guidance on the publication. Attendees included Yao Linxiu, member of the Standing Committee of CUEB Party Committee and Vice President, Jin Jinghu, Secretary of CUEB Party Committee of the Property Management Department, and Yang Ling, President of the Press.
Zhai pointed out that this inspection was to further carry out the instructions on the publishing of leaders from the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee. We put more emphasis on the inspection and rectification of the “three reviews and three proofreading procedures” to ensure all issues are addressed. Additionally, the inspection could help us gain a comprehensive understanding of the business operations and existing problems of the press to provide more practical suggestions, so as to comprehensively standardize the publishing business of the press.
He appreciated the Press’s efforts in pursuing professional and content-oriented development, as well as the work in implementing the “three reviews and three proofreading procedures” and addressing institutional limitations. He pointed out that as an important arena of ideology, the Press enjoys broad scope and high social attention. Therefore, the Press must safeguard the frontline of ideology and strongly maintain the correct direction of publishing. He also emphasized the special role of the recreational and sports industry, especially the publishing industry, in the capital economic development. The traditional publishing industry should actively apply new technologies and increase investment and efforts in integrating publication with social and economic development, as well as in digital transformation. In addition, the traditional publishing industry should strive for healthy operation by integrating features and resources. As the only municipal financial and economic press, CUEB Press needs to focus on primary fields, leverage publishing resources, and adhere to the characteristics of finance and economy to publish more high-quality books, making greater contributions to the construction of Beijing and the development of higher education.
Yao Linxiu introduced the school’s development orientation, disciplinary features, and governance structure of the Press. He emphasized the guidelines for future development and the “two-step” development strategy established in the 5th Party Congress of CUEB, emphasizing that the school is striving to build a domestically first-class and internationally renowned university of finance and economics. To that end, the school will prioritize the discipline construction, strengthen the digital and intelligent transformation, and build a cross-disciplinary platform for the digital economy aligned with the Beijing Digital City, so as to better serve the major national strategies and the development of the capital in the new era.
Yao pointed out that the Press, as a great resource, has formed a unique brand identity. With a focus on the school’s development strategy and discipline construction, the Press should further highlight its features, strengthen process management, and fulfill relevant responsibilities. These efforts will provide high-quality services for the achievement transformation of academy, teaching, and think-tank construction.
Yang Ling reported on the basic information of the Press, the effectiveness of the “Three reviews and proofreading procedures”, and the achievements of innovation-driven development strategy and the building of knowledge-based service enterprises. Yang also put forward measures to help the Press better serve the school’s strategic plans and the central work, and give full play to the advantages of brand collaboration between the Press and CUEB to enhance the Press’s influence.
During the research visit, Zhai Degang and his team also visited the book showroom of the Press.
“Three reviews and proofreading procedures” refer to a three-step review and proofreading process: the first step is conducted by staff, the second by the heads of the department, and the third by the responsible heads.
