The flag-raising ceremony started at ten past seven. Members of the 26th national flag group of CUEB solemnly escorted the national flag forward, staring at the bright five-starred red flag rising gradually to the majestic national anthem.
Wang Haichao, a retired soldier as well as the Secretary of undergraduate Party branch of the College of Business Administration, gave a speech about his years of service. Looking back on China’s wartime past and the diligent development of the Party and state from the 19th century onward, Wang expressed his deep reverence for the martyrs who had sacrificed so much during the tremendous transformation of China into a strong nation. He also mentioned that, as socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era, the country’s comprehensive national strength and international status have been enhanced, making China's national rejuvenation an irreversible historical course. Meanwhile, he called on students to maintain original aspiration and continue to struggle to build a more prosperous motherland.
At the ceremony, all teachers and students sang the chorus of the song "Without the Communist Party, There Would Be No New China" along with the choir of CUEB. The song resounded throughout the campus immersed all of those present in the education of the Party consciousness, stimulating deeper patriotism and conviction so as to appreciate the Party and become determined to follow the Party's lead.
No drop of blood should be shed in vain, and every sacrifice is worth remembering. The spirit of the martyrs and the glory of our heroes is indelible and eternal both in history and in all the people’s mind. Student Affairs Department of the Party committee and the Youth League Committee of CUEB will continue to carry out in-depth education themed around "Always Follow the Party", thus completing the fundamental task of fostering character and civic virtue and their pledge of strengthening the country with a good spirit
After the flag-raising ceremony, students of all schools were arranged so as to take photos with the flag, and they felt the need of sustaining the revolutionary legacy and shouldering their missions given to them by the times. Zhu Lei, student Party member from the School of Management and Engineering, said, "on the occasion of the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, as well as the 72nd anniversary of our motherland, I, as a member of the Party, should follow the footsteps of my predecessors and inherit the aspirations of the martyrs to make achievements in the new era towards the second centennial with 'the country's most fundamental interests' in mind!" Jian Jiangchuan, of the Freshman Grade of 2021 from the School of Statistics, said that "through watching the ceremony and reviewing the heroic deeds of the martyrs, I was inspired and acutely felt the necessity of shouldering the lofty mission and taking on important responsibilities. We will live up to the promise of our youth and the expectations of our times!"
