Recently, the Education Work Committee of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPC released “the Most Outstanding Class” in universities of Beijing for imparting knowledge and cultivating students. 80 courses were selected as “the most outstanding class”, among which 30 courses won the first prize and 50 won the second. Lian Huan, Associate Professor of the School of Marxism Studies, was awarded the first prize for the course of Ideological and Moral Education & Fundamentals of Law. Li Houyi, Associate Professor from the School of Marxism Studies and Wang Maolin, Associate Professor from the School of Accounting won the second prize, respectively, in the courses of Basic Principles of Marxism, and Auditing.

Teachers participating in the competition said: “Thanks to the award of ‘the most outstanding class’ for giving me the chance to learn from many excellent teachers and improve my capability. In future teaching, I will further improve my understanding of my responsibility of imparting knowledge and educating people”. Another teacher said, “Teaching is an extensive and profound art. Luckily, I can move ahead with the help of my leaders and colleagues at CUEB. Shouldering heavy responsibilities, I will constantly strive to become an excellent teacher of the ideological and political course!” Another teacher mentioned that “Through the competition, I have developed a further understanding of the important role of auditing in the national governance and oversight system and a more comprehensive and systematic review of the auditing curriculum system. Meanwhile, I found further topics of study in the ideological and political course and integrated them into my teaching, invigorating my class with more vitality. I will remember the original aspiration of fostering virtues all the time and shoulder the mission of imparting knowledge and educating students, making my class more outstanding”. Since the launch of the first “The Most Outstanding Class”in Beijing Universities for Imparting Knowledge and Educating People, CUEB has actively organized the selection on campus and recommended three teachers and their courses to participate in the competition. In the semi-final, leaders from the Teacher Work Department, the Party General Branch of School of Marxism Studies, and the Party Committee of the Accounting School organized a work team, together with those three teachers, to prepare for the competition by designing and polishing their courses. They got greatly inspired from the achievements of deepening the reform and innovation of the ideological and political theory course in the new era and prompting the ideological and political course construction. During the summer holiday, teachers spared a lot of time to prepare for courses and record videos, polishing their courses again and again despite the warm weather. After a fierce race, all the participating courses of our school entered the final and achieved splendid results.

Hosted by the Education Work Committee of Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPC, the competition aims to combine the reform and innovation of the ideological and political course with celebrating the 100th anniversary of founding of the CPC. It asks teachers of ideological and political courses as well as professional courses to prepare and show their courses based around the theme of following the Party forever, setting the definite direction of focusing on class teaching; inspiring teachers of ideological and political courses to build more thoughtful, theoretical, targeted classes; encourages teachers of professional courses to strengthen ideological and political construction; chooses a group of leading teachers with strong political consciousness, great passion, creative thinking, broad vision, self-discipline and upright personality; fosters a batch of teaching masters of ideological and political courses and build a batch of model class of cultivating talents; realizes the coordination between ideological and political courses and other courses; shows the beauty of theory, belief, morality and culture in class, and deeply implementing the fundamental task of fostering virtues. In the next stage, Education Work Committee of Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPC will organize for all the award-winning teachers to visit Beijing colleges and universities for centralized publicity and course preparation guidance, giving equal weights to the research and teaching.
