Between November 22nd to 28th, “Experience Beijing” International Ski Federation’s International Snowboard and Freestyle Skiing Cross World Cup, as well as volunteer service for the 2022 Winter Olympics testing event, were fully completed in Zhangjiakou Genting Snow Park. Chen Yuying and Wu Heng from the School of Urban Economy and Public Administration and the School of Foreign Studies respectively, as etiquette volunteers, completed their missions with perfect smiles, wonderful performances, and high-quality services under the guidance of the spirit of “dedication, friendship, mutual assistance and progress”.

Before departure, Li Xiaoou, Secretary of the Youth League committee, Xiao Xiao, minister of volunteer Work and Sun Honghao, minister of social practices sent warm greetings to both of the volunteers. Li gave high praises to their unselfishness, hoping the two can actively take responsibilities to accumulate experience for subsequent formal volunteer service events while ensuring their own safety. In addition, he gave the two volunteers some thermal epidemic prevention materials and said that the school authority will give full support to logistics preparations so as to ensure the volunteers can fully concentrate on their work.

From November 19th to 26th, the two volunteers consolidated the professional expertise in etiquette; for example, learning the gestures and postures of holding plates after a series of training. They also conducted a rehearsal for quickly familiarizing themselves with the whole process to avoid any mistakes. November 27th and 28th were set for the day of men’s and women’s freestyle skiing finals. Zhao Yuying and Wu Heng were responsible for leading three athletes to the medals podium. In addition, they also need to explain awarding process and notices to medalists. Finally, they fully completed their missions with fluent English and good psychological quality, demonstrating the image of a contemporary youth volunteer.

Through this “Experience Beijing” testing event, the Youth League Committee have taken efforts to accumulate experience and deepen logistics services in order to make greater contributions to the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
