On the afternoon of September 21, Party Secretary Han Xianzhou launched the first class online for the new CUEBers of Grade 2022, encouraging them to grow into a new generation to shoulder the responsibilities of national rejuvenation. Wang Jinbao, Minister of the Student Affairs Department of the Party Committee, presided over the class.
In the beginning, Han extended a sincere welcome. Taking the example of the school history of National South-West Associated University, he recalled the historical background and responsibilities of that generation of young people. He stressed that it is the hard work of our forefathers that created the great cause today, and ensured our youth an equal status enjoyed by their peers in the rest of the world. He pointed out that each generation has its own historical circumstance and mission of the times. On the new journey toward the second Centenary Goal, the youth should keep the domestic and international interests in mind, dare to struggle and work hard. They should reinforce their commitment to the consciousness of the need to maintain political integrity, think in big-picture terms, follow the leadership core, and keep in alignment, strengthen the confidence in the path, theory, system, and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics, resolutely uphold General Secretary Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and uphold the Party Central Committee’s authority and its centralized, unified leadership, and make contributions to the country’s prosperity, national rejuvenation and people’s well-being.
Han urged the students to cherish their college years and work hard to live up to the high expectations from General Secretary Xi Jinping for the youth of the new era. With the confidence, cares and instructions from Xi, students should keep in mind the Party's instructions, consciously practice the core socialist values, and make it their mission to contribute to national rejuvenation. Students should aspire to become more proud, confident, and assured in their identity. Students should harvest success and joy in growth and struggle, run hard on the track of youth, and strive to win the best results the youth today are supposed to get. The faculty and staff should guide and cultivate students in their formative stages of life and fasten the first button of life for them.
Han reviewed the achievements of the school in recent years. CUEB holds to the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, commits itself to serving Beijing and cultivates talents for the Party and the nation. It has not only achieved new developments in research and education, but also brought forth a large number of outstanding teachers and students with "The Top Priorities of the Country" in mind, who are the role models for all people of CUEB. Students should take practical actions to be among the role models, and continue to contribute to the development of the country and the capital. Students should keep pace with the times, move forward in the direction of the country’s needs and make their life blossom during college life. Students should strive to become the builders and successors of socialism with Chinese characteristics, so that the Chinese dream of the national rejuvenation can come true in the successive struggles of young people.
