School of Public Finance and Taxation Holds Red Finance and Taxation Centennial Landmark Exhibition & Promotion Meeting for Ideological and Political Major Construction
On September 8, School of Public Finance and Taxation of CUEB held red finance and taxation centennial landmark exhibition and promotion meeting for ideological and political major construction in the Press Room of the Boyuan Building. Han Xianzhou, Party Secretary of CUEB, Li Xiaomu, Vice Presidents of CUEB, Kang Hongxun, Director of Beijing Taxation Museum, as well as Zhu Zhigang, Deputy Director of Beijing Taxation Museum, attended the meeting chaired by Liu Xuewei, Party Secretary of the School of Public Finance and Taxation.
With the theme of learning from history and building a bright future, the exhibition was jointly held by the Party Committee Publicity Department of CUEB, Beijing Taxation Museum and the School of Public Finance and Taxation. Li Hongxia, the Deputy Party Secretary and the Dean of the School of Public Finance and Taxation and Kang Hongxun, Director of Beijing Taxation Museum jointly unveiled the sculpture.
Focusing on the new pattern of Broader Ideological and Political Education, the exhibition combines closely the advancement of the cause of the Party and the country and the implementation of the fundamental tasks of fostering virtues together. By implementing construction plans of revolutionary CUEB system and digging into ideological and political education elements through courses, the exhibition shows the development path of the Party’s fiscal and tax policies over a century in an immersive way, and inspires CUEBers to march forward for a better achievement in new chapter and to win the victory of the Party’s 20th National Congress with sincere actions. Next, as a key part of the School of Public Finance and Taxation enrollment education for freshmen, the exhibition will be on roving show, and will also be used as one part of the education on the Party’s history in the teachers’ Party branch and the students’ Party branch.
The School of Public Finance and Taxation held promotion meeting for ideological and political major construction. Han Xianzhou remarked in his speech that when promoting the curriculum ideological and political construction, every educator should deeply think about how to understand the profound meaning and how to build a natural curriculum education system. He stressed that we should neither scratch the surface of the curriculum ideological and political construction, nor regard it as a course only. Han put forward four ground rules. Firstly, we need to clarify requirements for personnel cultivation goals of majors according to students’ ideological and political understanding. Courses serve the development of majors, so the content and requirements of ideological and political major construction should be reflected in the whole process of personnel cultivation. Secondly, we need to put forward directions and goals of the ideological and political construction for each curriculum within the major, according to the requirements of ideological and political major construction, that is, requirements for the core literacies of students in this major. Thirdly, we need to identify the role of heads in the curriculum ideological and political construction as direct leader and organizer, and give full play to their coordinated role. Fourthly, we need to motivate Party membership teachers in fostering virtue through education through activities of the teachers’ Party branch. Giving high praise to achievements of promoting the curriculum ideological and political construction, he hoped that we can firmly grasp a significant starting point of the new era, pushing the ideological and political major construction to a higher level.
Liu Qiang, Director of the Academic Affairs Office, briefly reviewed the outlook, specific measures and main results of promoting curriculum ideological and political construction in recent years. Then, he discussed the relationship between majors and courses in terms of the background, goals, and other aspects for ideological and political major construction. To ensure effective construction, he proposed specific measures concerning the overall plan, the standpoint, primary responsibilities, etc. He emphasized that ideological and political major construction is not simple superimposition of curriculum, but an inevitable choice of a certain stage. In the aspect of building framework, we need to set clear objectives, cultivate core professional competences, optimize systems of the core curriculum, and integrate the concept of fostering virtue through education into the major construction, among which the textbook construction is of top priority.
Li Hongxia made a report on four aspects of the construction of ideological and political courses in Public Finance major, namely its system design, positioning and advantages, practice and achievements. She stated that we gathered full common consciousness, promoted the ideological and political major construction in all respects, and integrated core literacies into course system. Public finance courses have achieved full coverage of ideological and political course. The combination of ideological and political course and specialty advantages was emphasized in promoting the ideological and political major construction in public finance, and positioning and advantages of public finance was clear. With the aim to become a qualified teacher with firm ideals and beliefs, moral sentiments, solid knowledge and benevolence, we have constantly integrated ideological and political education elements into cultivating students through practice. Huang Chunyuan, Second Secretary of the Teachers' Party Branch of the School of Public Finance and Taxation, and Director of the Taxation Department, discussed about thinking and practice of the method of ideological and political major construction in Public Finance. Huang mentioned that taking value creation as thinking framework, personnel training plan as carrier, taxation major designed the framework and set mechanism for the professional ideological and political development. According to the specialty and advantages of our major, we took internship & practice, and promoting learning through competition as two key paths for the following steps. The Party branch will give full play to the leading role, relying on Beijing first-class majors, driving professional construction with Party building, and take multiple measures to promote the ideological and political major construction. Li Linjun, Deputy Director of Finance Department of School of Public Finance and Taxation, introduced the situation of the ideological and political construction in public finance major from perspectives of teaching plan tests and course teaching plan. Zhang Liang, Teacher of Capital Rating Department of School of Public Finance and Taxation, demonstrated how to teach the course of Goodwill Impairment Assessment as a showcase to implement ideological and political major construction into the end link of the whole education process.
In the next stage, the School of Public Finance and Taxation shall grasp the opportunity of red finance and taxation centennial landmark exhibition and solid promotion for ideological and political major construction, and constantly enrich and improve the content and connotation of red finance and taxation. We will summarize and refine the history of revolutionary practice in Finance and Taxation major, including emotions, truth and spirits from this history, and tell red stories. And we will deepen curriculum ideological and political construction within the framework of the ideological and political major construction, and constantly enrich practical education methods, such as experiential teaching, interactive teaching and immersive teaching. And we will reinforce interpenetration between explicit education and implicit education, and actively build comprehensive teaching models of ideological and political courses.
