On the afternoon of October 18, the local disease control department reported close contacts in CUEB. To prevent the possible transmission, we implemented temporary campus closure management immediately in line with the epidemic prevention requirements of Fengtai District. 

Under the strong leadership of CUEB Party Committee and Office of Administration, all departments of university worked in unity to coordinate and promote the pandemic prevention work. All CUEBers worked together to fight against the epidemic, gathering great strength to guard our university.

After the emergency plan was launched, CUEB Epidemic Prevention and Control Leading Group, University Hospital, Party Committee Student Affairs Department, Party Committee Security Department, Office of Logistics Services and other departments made instant responses, such as carrying out regional lockdown, personnel transfer and other work overnight, setting up 14 nucleic acid testing sites and organizing nucleic acid tests on the whole campus.

The University Hospital quickly introduces a special team to the university overnight, and actively communicates with Fengtai disease control department to carry out door-to-door nucleic acid tests all night long. While making great efforts to the epidemic prevention and control, we keep the basic medical services all day long to protect the health of teachers and students with full responsibility.

Party Committee Security Department quickly assigns staff in charge to the key areas to complete the lockdown. The department immediately conducts epidemiological survey to provide the information of the epidemic related personnel, their travel records in school, and contacts at the same time and place so as to smooth the relevant work and decisions. Under the guidance of the Epidemic Prevention and Control Leading Group, personnel transfer is completed in an orderly manner, and all people are to be under lockdown on campus to strictly curb the possible spread of the epidemic.

Office of Logistics Services quickly carries out full and thorough campus disinfection, covering 9 teaching buildings, office buildings, and public areas. 

To make sure the food supply of quarantined persons, workers in the school canteens are busy serving more than 7900 meals all day. The food warms everyone’s stomach and heart.

The dormitory managers are busy distributing anti-epidemic supplies, organizing mass nucleic acid tests and checking disinfection work to ensure students safe and sound. They also work hard to keep continuous supply of water, electricity, gas, and heating system.

Party Committee Student Affairs Department makes prompt deployment of themed class meeting in all schools to communicate plans from the university and to keep the students emotionally stable. Meanwhile, they make a series of effective work plans to guarantee the study and life of students with great care. 

Deputy Party Secretary and counselors quickly come to their positions. Some counselors work and live in the lockdown buildings and set up volunteer teams there in order to solve students’ problems. In each of the 15 apartments, 2 to 4 counselors were distributed widely so as to organize nucleic acid tests for students and carry out various prevention and control plans.

With the support of Beijing Psychological Association of High Education, Psychological Counseling Center recruited nearly 30 psychological experts from universities in Beijing, in a bid to provide a 24-hour psychological counseling hotline for students and carry out online mental health education lectures, helping relieve students' psychological pressure.

Party Committee Student Affairs Department, Graduate Affairs Department and the Youth League Committee of CUEB issued an initiative to all the students, calling on the students to " shoulder the responsibility, and jointly fight against the epidemic". The members of the Communist Party, outstanding representatives of the class and Youth League Committee, and the active members of the Party should carry their responsibilities to be pioneers. Like a ball of fire, these united efforts bring warmth for students.

Life took a pause during the epidemic, but we don’t stop learning. Academic Affairs Office and the Graduate School quickly begin the online teaching. All teachers and students begin to have online classes with a total of 249 undergraduate courses and nearly 100 graduate courses every day.

“I am a Party member, I come first”, “Do you need volunteers? I can help”. In the recruitment of nucleic acid testing volunteers organized by the Youth League Committee, more than 50 volunteers sign up within just 10 minutes. Every little spark makes a ball of fire. These volunteers instill youthful strength into the battle against the epidemic.

According to the requirements of pandemic prevention and control, Party Committee Organization Department transferred 5 young cadres to assist the Office of the CUEB Epidemic Prevention and Control Leading Group in its work. 

The Property Management Department took great efforts to ensure sufficient stocks of pandemic prevention supplies and distributed folding beds, sleeping bags and other materials to the faculty members who chose to stay on campus and assist in pandemic prevention and control. Beijing Chongcheng Economic Technological Development Company worked to guarantee that the campus supermarket had enough supplies, abundant commodities, and stable prices with both online and offline sales methods. Printing shops of CUEB kept operating to meet the demands of teachers and students. Cainiao, the delivery company on campus, set up a buffer zone with disinfection to ensure teachers and students could pick up their parcels safely and timely.

From late night to early morning, volunteers have been engaged in pandemic prevention and control, building a strongest great wall of steel that guards our campus. They are hailed as “the most beautiful group”. 

By now, the nucleic acid testing results of all personnel and sites have been negative!

Suffice it to say that under the strong leadership of the Party Committee, all CUEBers can play a role at critical moments. The more difficult and dangerous things are, the more CUEBers’ merits we will see, as they forge ahead with enterprise and fortitude.

The chilling autumn wind cannot blow away the warmth surging on campus!

The sudden outbreak of pandemic will not shake the resolve of CUEBers to tide over difficulties together!
