CUEB worked hard to fight against COVID-19 to help candidates chase their dreams. After coordinated and comprehensive arrangements, CUEB, as one of the examination sites, successfully completed its organization work for the Unified National Graduate Entrance Examination (short for UNGEE) from December 24 to 25, 2022.

A total of 3682 candidates successfully completed the examination in CUEB. We set up 67 exam rooms in Boxue Building and 32 in Shensi Building, and arranged special exam rooms for Covid-19 positive candidates. Before the exam, we had found 424 candidates tested positive and then 148 of them took the exam. During the exam, 3 candidates run a fever and were transferred to the spare exam room; 7 candidates in general exam rooms were tested positive and then transferred to special exam rooms. CUEB also arranged special exam rooms for two special candidates.

This year, a total of 9484 candidates applied for CUEB. The examination covered 38 subjects, with 7295 test papers prepared and distributed in 624 examination sites. We successfully finished the printing, sealing, packaging and sending work of exam papers, accomplishing the examination work smoothly.

With the strong support of all departments of CUEB, staff of the Graduate School made thorough preparations, detailed arrangements, repeated drills, and effective emergency response plans. They made great efforts to provide considerate services and respond to the call of “trying the best to take the exam”, completing the examination work successfully.

The organization work for UNGEE goes smoothly.

In December 2022, with the complex and severe epidemic situation in Beijing, the Ministry of Education determined that the UNGEE shall be held as scheduled. To implement the spirit of “trying the best to take the exam” of the Ministry of Education, and meet the requirements of Beijing Municipal Education Commission and Beijing Education Examinations Authority (short for BJEEA), the Admission Office of Graduate School made thorough preparations as planned. The Office contacted the 3,682 candidates one by one and double checked their health condition.

On the morning of December 19, Han Xianzhou, Party Secretary of CUEB, attended group meeting on the preparation work for UNGEE of 2023, briefly introducing the current situation.

On the afternoon of December 21, the Graduate School organized a pre-exam coordination meeting. President Fu Zhifeng, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, Vice President Wang Yonggui, Dean of the Graduate School Wang Jun, Deputy Dean Zhang Jie, leaders of the Office of the Leading Group of School Epidemic Prevention and Control, and heads of teams for confidentiality, classroom management, epidemic prevention materials, medical treatment, technology, security, publicity, sites preparation, logistics, and CUEB candidates attended the meeting. Fu Zhifeng and Wang Yonggui asked all departments to attach great importance to the exam, cooperate with each other and fulfill their own responsibilities, so as to ensure a smooth exam.

After the coordination meeting, the Admission Office of Graduate School launched an online pre-exam training session, which was attended by all the staff of the Graduate School, 32 inspectors and 300 invigilators. Zhang Xindan, Director of the Admission Office of Graduate School, introduced the exam room distribution, exam implementation, work process and exam notice in detail. Zhang Jie conveyed the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Beijing Municipality for the UNGEE of 2023, urging everyone to pay attention to health protection and safety.

On December 22, the national unified examination papers were transferred to the confidential room of Graduate School, and then we started the 24-hour duty work and arranged the staff on duty during the examination immediately. On December 22 and 23, the Graduate School, together with the Security Office and the Office of Logistics Service, set up a big display board at the south gate and the north gate, marking the exam room arrangements and road map.

At 9:30 PM on December 23, everything was ready for the exam.

On December 24, CUEB, as one of the examination sites for UNGEE, started the examination. At 6:30 a.m., the staff of the Graduate School and the Security Office escorted the test papers to the Examination Administration Offices in Boxue Building and Shensi Building. Then BJEEA launched a real-time Tencent meeting with CUEB. At 7:00 a.m., the inspectors and invigilators of every general exam room and special exam room got the examination papers and were ready in place.

At 7:40 a.m., President Fu Zhifeng, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, Vice President Wang Yonggui, and member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission and Supervisor Chen Caiqun arrived at the examination room of Boxue Building, listened to the work arrangements of Graduate School, and checked the real-time examination at 417 monitoring room.

During the examination, CUEB carried out comprehensive disinfection of all exam rooms and public areas. We also provided 1200 disposable disinfection gloves, more than 1000 boxes of antigen detection reagents, more than 1000 N95/KN95 masks, and 200 protective suits for all invigilators so as to ensure the safety during the examination.

Before the examination, the Admission Office of Graduate School released the notice of the examination site instructions, exam room arrangements, and warm reminders through the official website and the WeChat public account. We send nearly 30,000 text messages to candidates for three consecutive days before the test，reminding them to notice the examination requirements. We also recorded a video to help them familiarize the location of the exam room and plan the route in advance. The rigorous, serious and meticulous work won great praise from the candidates.

The school canteens provided simple meals for candidates. Those at special exam rooms were arranged to have meals and rest in special places. The Youth League Committee of CUEB opened the Cultural Activity Center for candidates to take a break at noon, and displayed a warm slogan on the screen to cheer them up.

Due to changes in the epidemic, the UNGEE of 2023 became the most difficult national exam to organize so far. With the high attention of school leaders and the close cooperation of all relevant departments, we have ensured smooth and successful examination work in CUEB.
