CUEB held training for the Student’s Publicity Group to help them better understand and implement the spirit of the Party’s 20th National Congress in the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. In this training, we invited Hao Ran, lecturer from School of Marxism Studies and Youth Lecturer Mission of Fengtai District, and Che Zongkai, member of National College Lecturer Mission of Ministry of Education (MOE) and PhD student of School of Marxism in Tsinghua University.

On December 7, Hao Ran shared her experience and practice with the topic of “Chinese Modernization and ‘Three Imperatives’ (It is imperative that all of us in the Party never forget our original aspiration and founding mission, that we always stay modest, prudent, and hard-working, and that we have the courage and ability to carry on our fight.)”, and gave her advice on the choice of subjects to students. She led the members of Student’s Publicity Group to review the essential requirements and the defining feature of Chinese modernization. She emphasized that we should adopt an objective outlook on the Party’s history and the view of macro-history, and fully grasp the meaning of “Three Imperatives” through our history. For the choice of subjects, she pointed out that we should deepen our study on three major epochal questions and the fifteen subtitles given by the Report to the 20th CPC National Congress, handle well the relations between publicity and speech to make our speech more historical, theoretical and practical.

On December 16, Che Zongkai, member of National College Lecturer Mission of Ministry of Education (MOE) and PhD student of School of Marxism in Tsinghua University, shared his training with the topic of “Preparing a ‘first-class Course for Publicity”. He argued that to analyze the theme is the first step to understand a course; a good preparation of the content is the key to prepare a course; first-class publicity is the catalyst to develop a course; and the logic matters most to present a course successfully. Therefore, he proposed that all members should keep the three questions of where, why and how in mind, and we need to see the big picture in small details for subjects of great concern. For the subjects, Che Zongkai shared three themes including “Changes in the Past Decade”, “Duties of Youth in Building a Modern Socialist Country in All Aspects”, and “The Chinese Modernization in Witness”. In the end, he shared his experience and the topic “Chinese Modernization: Our Glory and Dream”, further strengthening the practicality and the content of the training.

In the discussion part, members of Student’s Publicity Group shared their opinions on topics of “How to Improve Publicity and Influence among Peers”, “How to Firmly Grasp the Theoretical Knowledge for Lecturers” and “How to Attract the Interest of Audience”. Next, the Group shall give much attention to publicizing the spirit from young people’s perspective and take concrete actions with different emphasis following their own major and experience, as an attempt to implement the spirit of the Party’s 20th National Congress.
