CUEB Holds Meeting for Digital & Intelligent Transformation of Undergraduate Majors and Review of Pilot Transformations
On the morning of November 28, to implement the spirit of the 5th Party Congress of CUEB and promote the transformation of digital intelligence, the Academic Affairs Office held meetings for the digital & intelligence transformation of undergraduate majors, as well as for the review of the first batch of pilot majors in this transformation. Vice President Li Xiaomu chaired the meeting.
Wu Weixing, Deputy Secretary of the CUEB Party Committee and President, gave high praises to the achievements made by teaching units of all levels in such transformation. He stressed that the digital & intelligent transformation, as a hallmark of CUEB’s personnel cultivation, is of great significance to the high-quality development of CUEB. Wu proposed four suggestions for the future construction of pilot majors:
• First, he emphasized the importance of aligning plans with the overall direction of CUEB’s digital and intelligent transformation. All units and departments are supposed to develop plans and coordinate pilot and non-pilot majors to promote this construction and transformation consistently.
• Second, he stressed the significance of undergraduate teaching and regarded the teaching quality as a top priority for the entire university. Emphasis should be placed on the quality of education made to build a social reputation for high-level personnel cultivation.
• Third, he highlighted the importance of student-centered development and further gathering consensus. The starting point and focus of the digital and intelligent transformation of majors should be based on students’ needs. Special attention should be given to students’ achievements and outcomes during the process.
• Fourth, he emphasized the need for a performance-oriented approach and stressed the importance of practical results and outputs in the transformation of undergraduate majors. Thus, a result-oriented evaluation system should be established.
Li introduced the coming tasks for this transformation He stated that the digital-intelligent transformance was essential for the progress of CUEB and its high-quality services to the development of the capital in the new era. He emphasized that all units need to make clear about the specific requirements, and take concrete measures accordingly with CUEB characteristics. It’s better to start the transformation with pilot majors and then expand its scope gradually, for a full coverage of all undergraduate majors.
Liu Qiang, the Director of the Academic Affairs Office and the Education Quality Evaluation Agency, made specific arrangements for the transformation. He pointed out that the digital & intelligent transformation should be closely integrated with the requirements of the new round of undergraduate education evaluation. It is necessary to implement the evaluation-driven construction and revolution for this transformation. Each teaching unit needs to carefully examine existing issues and take this opportunity of establishing the first batch of 10 pilot majors and 10 micro-majors to create digital and intelligent courses, textbooks, faculty, and teaching achievements, comprehensively driving the reform and upgrading of education and teaching.
The heads of 14 teaching units reported on the education goals, measures, and effectiveness, as well as future development. After evaluation by the experts, a total of 10 majors were approved to be the first batch of pilot majors, namely Urban Management, Business Administration (Digital and Intelligent Management), Economics, Accounting (Digital and Intelligent International Accounting), Advertising, Information Management and Information Systems, Asset Assessment (Appraiser), Law, Finance, and Economic Statistics.
The digital & intelligent transformation of undergraduate majors, as a historical opportunity in the digital era, is a proper way for CUEB to serve the development of the capital in the new era. Promoting the transformation systematically contributes to the platforms of the inter-discipline of digital economy. As an effective way to achieve deep integration of new technologies with education and teaching, it is a key focus for CUEB to build a first-class personnel cultivation system in the new era.
Going forward, the Teaching Affairs Office will deepen reforms and come up with new measures. Specifically, it will integrate the digital & intelligent transformation majors with teaching, teachers, and students’ learning outcomes. It will contribute to the construction of a distinctive, high-level China’s first-class and worldly-renowned research university of finance and economics.
