CUEB Party Committee Theory Learning Centre Organizes Study
On the morning of February 10, CUEB Party Committee Theory Learning Centre organizes study on the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech at the opening ceremony of the seminar on studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, and Xi Jinping’s "Speech at the First Collective Study of the Political Bureau of the 20th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee" published by the Qiushi Journal. Han Xianzhou, Secretary of the Party Committee, presided over the meeting.
Han pointed out that our primary political task is to study, publicize and implement the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress. Guided by General Secretary Xi 's two speeches, we need to redouble efforts to comprehensively study and implement the report of the 20th CPC National Congress. Meanwhile, it is also necessary to learn by heart the speeches at the Congress and the spirit of the reports to the Party’s 18th and 19th National Congress. This could help us understand the spirit thoroughly, and further deepen the study, publicity and implementation of it. Firstly, we need to integrate the spirit of the Party’s 20th National Congress into ideological and political courses and professional courses. And also, school leaders should prioritize in publicizing the spirit in a bid to form a sound learning atmosphere. Secondly, in the context of serving the Capital’s development in the new era, we are expected to unleash our school's discipline and professional strength to study and interpret the spirit. Thirdly, we need to consistently study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important views on education. Embarking on the new era, we should constantly implement the mechanism of fostering virtue through education, striving to foster a new generation of young people to shoulder the mission of realizing national rejuvenation.
President Fu Zhifeng pointed out that the speech delivered by the General Secretary Xi Jinping gives a profound account of a range of major theoretical and practical issues rein the Chinese path to modernization. It also has greatly enriched and taken forward the theory of Chinese modernization, which is highly relevant，instructive and politically oriented while bearing great theoretical significance. Therefore, more should be done to implement the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress in a comprehensive and systematic manner. That also means solid steps should be taken to train more professionals and fully improve the research for better services to the society.
Going forward, in line with actual conditions, the following tasks should be the priorities, according to Xu Fang. First, it is important for us to organize experts and scholars to conduct study on the new ideas and interpretations of the spirit of the Congress. Second, we should also make full use of the strengths and characteristics of CUEB while conducting in depth research on the practice of the Congress in Beijing to boast the development in the new era. Third, more measures should be taken to raise students’ awareness of the spirit of the Congress. Cadres and teachers at CUEB are expected to take the lead in publicizing the spirit of the Congress and take them as guidance in practice. Ultimately, the goal is to promote high-quality development of CUEB.
As Wu Hui notes, education is an important part of the Chinese modernization. It is necessary to bear in mind the mission of cultivating talent for the Party and the country and develop education that meets the people’ s expectations. Moreover, we should also foster a new generation of young people who make all-round development of morality, intelligence, physique and aesthetics. On top of that, we should always stick to taking root in China and do our best to advance the socio-economic development. Openness should also be encouraged. That means we need to open wider to the outside world and build a high-quality research team, with a view to build CUEB into a high-level research university.
Li Xiaomu also stresses that we should form in depth understanding and recognition of the profound impact brought by the Chinese modernization. We should also remain confident in our history and exhibit greater historical initiative while sticking to the goal of basically realizing modern socialist country so that we can better implement the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education. Departments at all levels are also expected to fulfill their due responsibilities and strive to build a first-class undergraduate training system in the new era. With the high-level personnel fostering system of holistic education, we should also pay greater attention to fostering professionals through our own efforts, so as to promote the high-quality development of CUEB.
Sun Haozhe offered two perspectives in line with the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress and the guiding principles of the important speech delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping. First, it is significant for us to clearly know that modernization is not equal to Westernization and the Chinese modernization breaks up such an obsession and offers Chinese wisdom to explore a better social system for humanity. Second, it is important for us to deepen student’s understanding of the essence and characteristics of the Chinese modernization. More exploratory steps are expected to be put into practice to integrate national strategies into the improvement of education quality.
Xing Qi states that we need to emancipate our mind and continue upholding fundamental principles and break new ground. We should make an overall plan and do great in the work of the united front in this year and beyond. Additionally, we also need to further strengthen theoretical guidance to Non-Party intellectuals and seek to build up the ranks of non-Party representative figures and encourage them to dedicate to building a high-level research university, in a bid to promote the high-quality development of school undertakings.
When it comes to the communication and discussion, participants all think that the 20th CPC National Congress points the way forward for the endeavors of the Party and the country. It also has made strategic plans for building China into a modern socialist country in all respects and advancing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts. Therefore, it is advisable for us to study the spirit of the Congress and align our thinking and action with the guiding principles of the important speeches delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping, so as to build CUEB into Beijing Municipal high-level research university and China’s first-class and worldly-renowned university of finance and economics. Our goal is to draw blueprint for the development of the Capital in the new era with CUEB characteristics.
