On April 22, 2023 Working Conference of President and Chairman of the Chinese Institute of Business Administration (CIBA), and Seminar Themed “High-quality Development of Enterprises on the New Journey”, were convened successfully in Zhuhai International Convention & Exhibition Center. The conference was host by CIBA and organized by Institute of Financial Innovation and Risk Management (IFIRM) of Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE). Liu Xuexin, Dean of College of Business Administration and Executive Director of China ESG Institute, Sun Zhongjuan, Deputy Dean of College of Business Administration and Deputy Director of Research Center of Disclosure Standard of China ESG Institute and Wang Kai, Director of the Department of Corporate Sustainability of College of Business Administration and Evaluation Research Center of China ESG Institute, participated in the conference.

During the conference, five professional committees, including ESG Professional Committee, were officially approved. Liu introduced the background and working plan of ESG Professional Committee.

The establishment of the ESG Professional Committee of CIBA is to pull experts from ESG together to conduct targeted research and exchange ideas about theories and practical experience of Chinese ESG development. It also works to provide consulting services and solutions for enterprises to practice ESG philosophy and strengthen ESG information disclosure, ultimately aiming to explore the ESG development path with Chinese characteristics that could support China to achieve comprehensive green transition on social and economic development and better participate in global economic governance. The secretariat of ESG Professional Committee is set up in CUEB. Experts from CUEB serve as directors to organize activities of ESG Professional Committee.

The establishment of ESG Professional Committee of CIBA marks the wide recognition of ESG research. Going forward, the College of Business Administration of CUEB and China ESG Institute will make good use of ESG Professional Committee to strengthen academic research in the ESG field, thus achieving high-quality development of CUEB business administration disciplines.
