CUEB Organizes Activities for Mental Health Day
From April to May, to strengthen the mental health education of CUEBers and implement the spirit of Beijing College Ideological and Political Work, Mental Health Education and Counseling Center (short for the Center) of the Student Affairs Department of CUEB Party Committee organized 12 kinds of activities themed “Boosting confidence and Forging Ahead”, including Mental Garden Party, Mental Growth Speaking Contest, Mental Comics Contest, Mental Letter Writing Competition, Reading Activity, Harmonious Dormitory Creative Competition, Mental Health Knowledge Competition, Psycho-scene Drama, etc. These activities attracted many students to participate in an “optional + mandatory” way.
On April 26 and 27, as one of the distinctive mental health education activities of CUEB, Mental Garden Party was successfully held in the West Square of the third canteen. Aiming to enhance students’ sense of hope and self-confidence, we held Mental Garden Party with the theme of “Clover under Starry Sky”, to inspire students with mental dynamics and willpower to forge ahead bravely. Under the rule to collect stamped cards, instant, cross-time and random activities were designed and altogether 11 mental activities were carried out, namely Emotional Release Activities (“Emotional Garbage Bin” and “Outcry in Silence”), Self-recognition Activities (“My Planet”, “I Say You Draw”, “Spiritual Message”, “Advanced Version of Finger-guessing”, and “Schulte Grid”), Positive Psychology Activities (“Wish Blessing Wall” and “Cute Bear Flash”), Peer Mutual Aid Activities (“Find a Pen Friend” and “Relieve Worries Grocery Store”), etc. By doing so, the students could learn and grow in the game.
The Center explained the corresponding psychological meaning in Roll up Banner and Tweet of each activity online and offline. The Mental Garden Party was aimed at helping CUEBers live campus life with a more rational and positive outlook. Many CUEBers left their wishes on “Wish Blessing Wall”, sharing wishes and blessings with each other. They experienced the beautiful world in their own soul when drawing “My Planet”. They relieved stress by venting their emotions in “Outcry in Silence”. They learned others’ ways of handling worries in “Relieve Worries Grocery Store”. They felt warmth and comfort when hugging the cute bear in “Cute Bear Flashed”. They perceived their emotional changes and released current pressure. The activity won rave reviews from the students: “I’m very happy”, “It makes me relaxed.” and “I enjoy it very much” etc.
The Center will continue to carry out Mental Health Day activities on May 25, popularize mental health knowledge, and build a warm, harmonious and positive environment of mental health education in CUEB. By these means, CUEBers are bound to raise mental health awareness, enhance self-adjustment ability, forge ahead with enterprise and fortitude.
