On the morning of May 16, Qi Jinli, Deputy Director of the United-Front Work Department of Beijing Municipal Committee of CPC (short for BMCCPC) and his team visited CUEB and discussed the key and difficult parts of united-front work in a symposium, accompanied by related heads and staff from the United-Front Work Department of BMCCPC, Education Work Committee of BMCCPC and Beijing Western Returned Scholars Association (short for BWRSA). Han Xianzhou, Party Secretary of CUEB presided over the symposium and delivered a speech. Li Xiaomu, Vice President of CUEB, and Xing Qi, Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Director of United Front Work Department attended the symposium.

Qi fully appreciated CUEB’s consciousness and progress on united front work. He pointed out that the university, as a cradle for talents, should further understand the importance of united front work in universities under new circumstances. As a Beijing Municipal high-level research university, the Party Committee of CUEB is expected to shoulder the important mission of serving the capital and the nation through innovative united front work in the new era and leverage its disciplines and united front system.

Han extended a warm welcome to Qi and his team and thanked the United-Front Work Department of BMCCPC and Education Work Committee of BMCCPC for guiding the united front work of CUEB. Han said that the Party Committee would continue to take Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the guidance and strengthen theoretical and political guidance to inspire the students, rally their support, and pool their strength. Committed to a high-quality development for the capital and CUEB, we will give full play to the united front in the new era and carry forward the fine traditions of the united front work of the university.

Li thanked the United-Front Work Department of BMCCPC and Education Work Committee of BMCCPC for their long-term care and cultivation and said he would further strengthen political responsibility and consciousness. Under the leadership of the CUEB Party committee, he would make further use of his profession to put forward suggestions and ideas.

Xing reported our united front work in the past five years in terms of basic situation, top-level design, specific measures, and challenges.

Leaders of Party Committee Student Affairs Department, Party Committee Security Department, Party Committee Teachers Affairs Department and International Cooperation and Exchanges Office, members of the United-Front Work Department of the School of Public Finance and Taxation and Overseas Chinese College, and representatives of non-Party members made reports on several aspects, such as the ideological guidance of CUEB non-Party intellectuals, management of ethnic and religious affairs, services for overseas Chinese in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, united front work of CUEB and suggestions of non-Party representatives.

During the symposium, the members of the Joint Research Group exchanged their ideas with the participants of CUEB, and provided many targeted and practical suggestions on work guidance.
