On the afternoon of May 16, Rong Dali, Party member and Vice Chairman of Beijing Federation of Social Science Circles (BFSSC) and Vice Director of Beijing Office for Social Science held a seminar in CUEB, in order to study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era (the Thought), and strengthen the contribution of philosophy and social science to the capital’s high-quality development. Chen Yanbin, a member of the Standing Committee of the CUEB Party Committee and CUEB Vice President, attended the meeting. Fan Hejun and Zheng Wenke, Deputy Director of the Office of Research, Du Pengcehng, the Assistant of the Office, and representatives of social organization, think tank and research base of CUEB participated in the meeting. Fan Hejun presided over the meeting.

At the meeting, Chen Yanbin first expressed gratitude to BFSSC for its support for the development of philosophy and social science in CUEB over the years. Then he introduced CUEB’s overall development of philosophy and social science in recent years from research projects and achievements, think tank, base development to other fields. He mentioned that the think tank in CUEB and each research base have been offering suggestions on meeting the major strategic needs of the capital and the construction of Beijing’s Four Centers (namely, national political center, cultural center, center for international exchanges, and center for scientific discovery and technological innovation) and "Two Zones" (an integrated demonstration zone for further opening up the national service sector and a pilot free trade zone). CUEB boasts 6 national and provincial research institutions, including the Collaborative Innovation Center for Economic and Social Development Research in Megacities, and 45 research institutions at the university level, providing a platform for CUEB to take full advantage of the think tank.

Rong Dali highly praised these achievements in philosophy and social science research and serving the capital in recent years. He stated that in order to implement the Thought on education, BFSSC would constantly strengthen the leadership of the Party, apply what we have learned in practice and act on our beliefs, thus leveling up the influence of philosophy and social science on the capital’s high-quality development. He also pointed out that this research would focus on social organization, think tank construction, and manual compilation for project approval. He hoped that all experts could be problem-oriented towards these issues, including how to produce high-quality achievements, how to serve the capital with these achievements for greater influence.

At the meeting, Xu Wei, Secretary General of Capital Enterprise Reform and Development Research Institute, Zhu Chao, Secretary General of Beijing Institute of International Finance, and Li Yan, Deputy Secretary General of Beijing Society of Behavioral Science made speeches as representatives of social organizations. Pan Na, Deputy Dean of Capital Think Tank for Economic and Social Development Research in Megacities, He Qin, Director of Beijing Economic and Social Development Policy Research Base, Gao Jieying, Director of CBD Development Research Base, Wang Jingda, Deputy Director of National Tax Law Research Base made reports as representatives of think tank and scientific research bases. These representatives briefly introduced the current situation and future development philosophy and put forward the difficulties and issues during the current development period. Su Wuquan, Director of Management Department of Beijing Federation of Social Science and Level Two Inspector, Wang Peng, Deputy Director of the Planning Project Department and Level Two Researcher, Zhang Jin, Deputy Director of Academic Activities Department, Wang Jianni, Cadre of Think Tank Work Department and Level Four Researcher, and Yao Qin, Cadre of Management Department of the Society respectively addressed issues related to think tank support, social science project application, academic activities planning and topic selection for decision-making consulting projects. They said that they would thoroughly study the issues raised by the representatives and invite them to continue participating in seminar activities organized by the Federation of Social Sciences in the future.
