On the morning of June 30, CUEB held an award ceremony marking the 102nd anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC) at Zhuoyu Auditorium.This year is a starting point to fully implement the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress, and a critical moment as the entire Party and people advance toward the Second Centenary Goal.Guided by the theme education of “Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era (the Thought)”, the ceremony was to award outstanding collectives and individuals, and exchange experience to open a new chapter of development in the new era.

Members of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, representatives of awardees, officials at the division level, Party member representatives of retirees, new Party member representatives, members of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and representatives of primary-level organizations of political parties, all attended the award ceremony chaired by Wu Weixing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President.

On behalf of the Party Committee, Wang Wenju, Party Secretary, sent his best regards to all Party members, paid tribute to the senior Party members, and congratulated awardees. An organization is like a fort unifying all members; a Party member is like a flag setting the direction. Outstanding Party organizations have made achievements in personnel cultivation, research, services to society and national events, epidemic prevention and control, as well as to other kinds of work. Outstanding faculty members have borne excellent fruits in education, research, management, and services. Outstanding student Party members performed well in study and practice. The award ceremony shows that Party Committee upholds the fundamental purpose of putting teachers and students at the center and serving them wholeheartedly.

Wang put forward four requirements for Party organizations and Party members.First, the theoretical study is the foundation. Bearing in mind the overall requirements of learning the Thought, strengthening Party consciousness, emphasizing practice, and making new achievements, we should advance further theme education. Studying the Thought’s system, quintessence, and requirements for practice, we need to interpret theories and put them into practice. Second, down-to-earth work is the soul. We should conduct substantial research and bear fruits to serve national strategies and capital development in the new era and benefit teachers and students, making them feel happier and safer. Third, putting theories into practice is the key. With a view to achieving the overall goal of national rejuvenation against a backdrop of global change on a scale unseen in a century and the enduring prosperity of a country through education, we should pursue self-reliance and innovation, cultivate innovators, foster virtues through education, and integrate the Party’s theories into education. Moreover, we need to conduct substantial research to develop the economy and society and to advance discipline construction. Fourth, discipline is the principle. We should persevere with full and rigorous self-governance and follow instructions for CUEB reform and development. To prepare for the fifth Party Congress of CUEB, we need to form a political atmosphere of integrity within the Party and unify everyone to strive for it.

Deputy Party Secretary and President Wu Weixing stressed that, by studying and implementing the Thought, Party organizations at all levels, and all teacher and student Party members must take concrete actions to build CUEB into a Beijing Municipal high-level research university and first-class university of finance and economics, so that CUEB can take the lead in implementing the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education and serving the capital in the new era.

Deputy Party Secretary Xu Fang announced Decision of the Party Committee of Capital University of Economics Business Regarding Honoring Outstanding Primary-level Party Organizations, Outstanding CPC Members and Excellent Communist Party Workers. In summary, the Party Committee of College of Business Administration and other 3 primary-level Party organizations of secondary schools and the Teachers’ Party Branch of Administration of College of Urban Economics and Public Administration and other 19 primary-level Party branches were titled “Outstanding Primary-level Party Organizations of CUEB”. Wang Xinzheng and other 126 Party members were honored with “Outstanding Party Members of CUEB”. Wang Peng and other 26 communist Party workers won the title of “Excellent Communist Party Workers”.

Decision Regarding Honoring Outstanding CPC Members, Excellent Communist Party Workers and Outstanding Primary-level Party Organizations of Universities of Beijing, released by the Education Work Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, was also announced in the ceremony. Party Committee of the School of Economics was honored with “Outstanding Primary-level Party Organization of Universities of Beijing”. Zhou Guangjun, Secretary of the Party Committee of School of Statistics, and Wang Xiaohong, Secretary of the Party Branch of University Hospital and Director of the Hospital, won the title of “Excellent Communist Party Workers of Universities of Beijing”. Li Kunpeng, Deputy Secretary of Party Branch of International School of Economic Management and Dean of the School, and Ye Tanglin, Executive Deputy Dean of Economic and Social Development Research in Megacities, were titled “Outstanding CPC Members of Universities of Beijing”.

This year CUEB sees 21 CPC members receive commemorative medals awarded to CPC members after five decades of Party membership, which are awarded by the Central Committee of CPC. In the award ceremony, Wang Wenju awarded these medals to representatives of those CPC members, and new Party candidates of 2023 presented flowers to them.

Xie Xiaojuan, representative of Outstanding Primary-level Party Organizations and Party Secretary of the School of Economics and Deputy Secretary, Hu Qiyang, member of the third batch of "National Party Building Model Branches" cultivation units and Secretary of the first Party Branch of Undergraduate of School of Statistic, Li Kunpeng, representative of Outstanding CPC Members, Deputy Secretary of Party Branch of International School of Economic Management and Dean of the School, Wang Xiaohong, representative Excellent Communist Party Workers and Secretary of the Party Branch of University Hospital and Director of the Hospital, and Zhao Fengqi, representative of members receiving commemorative medals awarded to CPC members after five decades of Party membership, former Secretary of Commission for Discipline Inspection of CUEB, president of Association of Senior Educators and Executive Deputy Director of the Committee of Caring for the Younger Generation gave speeches in the ceremony.
