On June 20th, CUEB President Wu Weixing, had a meeting with Prof. Charles Wang, Vice President of the University of Arizona, Prof. Douglas L Ulmer, Director of Mathematics Department, and Prof. Jason Aubrey, the liaison for UA – CUEB in Bouyuan Building. The two sides had an in-depth discussion to promote Sino-foreign education cooperation.

President Wu expressed warm welcome to the visiting delegation led by Prof. Charles Wang. He emphasized the importance of joint efforts to boost the smooth operation of Sino-foreign education cooperation to build a brand project. By grasping the opportunity, it’s necessary to leverage the respective disciplinary advantages, deepen international cooperation on personnel cultivation, faculty exchange, research work and others to bring forth spillover effect. The goal is to establish a comprehensive, multi-level, and long-term strategic partnership between the two sides.

Prof. Charles Wang reviewed the development of Sino-foreign education cooperation. He fully acknowledged the efforts made by CUEB in obtaining approval for the project, ensuring its smooth operation. He hoped that the two universities would continue to have further communication, work together to guarantee the steady and orderly implementation of the project. Additionally, he invited a delegation from CUEB to visit UA in the coming autumn to further promote cooperation on management effectiveness and academic research.

After the meeting, both sides made an in-depth discussion regarding the research work. On behalf of CUEB, Yin Zhichao had a conversation with the delegation in terms of cooperation in financial technology. Yin expressed the hope that, based on the steady progress of Sino-foreign education cooperation, both sides would strengthen their academic research cooperation on financial technology and other new cooperative fields. Prof. Charles Wang expressed strong agreement and stated that he would actively promote academic exchanges between the two universities and deepen their research cooperation upon his return to UA.

CUEB members from the International Academic and Research affairs and the School of Data Science held further discussions with Prof. Charles Wang and his delegation about specific operations of Sino-foreign education cooperation, including joint training of masters and doctors, faculty exchange, and research collaboration, among others. Both sides exchanged opinions and reached preliminary consensus that we continue to advance the smooth operation of the cooperation and strive to develop it into a model Sino-foreign education cooperation.
